The "What Day of the Week" key phrase for 2009 is:

The Sunburned Sultan Wants Fantastic Medicine. Warlocks Saw To The Sultan Today.

By memorizing this 12-word phrase, you can quickly calculate what day of the week any day in 2009 falls, without a calendar. Here's how it works. Count along the phrase for which month you want. For example, March, you'd count to Sultan. Sultan Starts with Su, which means the first day of the month is a Sunday. That means the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th are also Sundays. By simple addition or subtraction you can then find any date you want. (Months beginning with Tuesdays start with "Tu" or "To" (for the 'Too' sound), Thursdays with any word starting with "Th" or "Tr", Saturdays with any word starting in "Sa" or "St", and Sundays with any word starting in "Su" or "Sn". All the other letters are self-explanatory.) If you don't like this particular phrase, you can use the same idea to create your own memorable phrase.

Skipped the countdown last night, as I try to do every year. Didn't do anything, of course. The only reason I didn't go to sleep early and forget about it was that there's always a worry someone will call right after. Nobody did this time, though.
