I'm disappointed that Moore's run is over so soon. I'm not a fan of ever rotating creative teams on books and Runaways is one book that benefits from a stable writer and artist team. Although Moore's sales haven't been great, so I guess that's the reason why they haven't given him the keys beyond the issues he was solicited for.

I'm pushing Fred Van Lente for Runaways, as my writer of the year for 2008 he's proved with stuff like Incredible Hercules he has a gift for light comedy with a character driven edge, whilst also delivering other stuff like Marvel Zombies 3 which is much grittier. Jeff Parker's okay, but I've always found him, like a lot of the younger Marvel stuff, a bit too twee and cutesy and knowingly old school.

They could do worse than Paul Cornell, too, of course. Although it's probably not the match I'd choose and, although critically well received, he's not a writer who'll give the book a sales boost.
