New Comic Day + Work Foo + Social Interaction Report!
First...
This week I got:
Untold Tales of the New Universe: Psi-Force #1 (the best of the Untold Tales I've read, in keeping with the spirit of the original and the voices of the characters)
X-Men: Deadly Genesis #5 (of 6) (My Pick of the Week, some good developments but some of it's falling flat for me)
I also picked up but haven't yet read Y: The Last Man Vol 5: Ring of Truth TPB.
Full reviews of all (except the TPB) are as usual at my comic reviews site for anyone interested.
From the bookstore, I used some of my birthday money to pick up "The Speed of Dark" by Elizabeth Moon (Nebula award winning novel) and "The Warrior's Apprentice" by Lois McMaster Bujold (Miles Vorkosigan novel that takes place before most of the others I've read and explains his unusual status quo).
Anyway, work was okay, but yay it's a double paycheck month. One of those things where I get paid every 2 weeks bt since months are a little longer than 4 weeks every 3-4 months I get an extra paycheck. And this was that month. Woohoo, I'm going to Mexico!
Also of note at work... grist for The Social Interaction Report: while I was lifting some stuff the book in my coat pocket fell out and one of the guys who works there but not directly with me saw it and asked about it, and I gave him my usual 'oh, it's science fiction'... then he asked if I liked TV science fiction too, and so started on a few minutes of discussing current shows - seems to be a fan but hasn't really been following most of the new shows yet, just wants to get into them. Mentioned Firefly and BSG and told him they were really good and he said he's heard that from a lot of people but he hasn't seen them yet. Anyway, call that a pleasing social interaction outside my natural conversation groups and 'strictly business'. So yay me, even if it was facilitated by a complete accident.
