New Comic Day! This week I got:
Astonishing X-Men #10 (Ehh, best of the week but still really don't care for this plot)
District X #13 (okay story but nothing really spectacular)
Excalibur #13 (some nice speculation on mutants in society and some wince-worthy moments, along with average action)
Gotham Central #31 (bit of an unsatisfying end to the arc)
Outsiders #23 (interesting, and I have to admit I was surprised)
X-Men: The End Book Two #3 (Back to space, and the series is better for it)
Full reviews as usual at http://www.unreachablestar.net
Also picked up at the used bookstore, The Falling Woman by Pat Murphy (a Nebula award winning novel). Had a gyro for lunch (my first in 3 weeks)
Work was kinda hellish - on the plus sde, the delivery guy got there early (and is expected to get there early for the next few weeks at least). On the minus, before he did the manager asked me to clean some shelves so I couldn't get my usual comic reading in, and a toilet overflowed which slowed down everything as the floor was all wet through much of the delivery.
Random thoughts of the day: Someday I'm going to start a movie theatre and call it "THE ATRES THEATRES", or just 'THE ATRES' for short. Then, every billboard will advertise 'In The Atres now!' and I'll get loads of free press.
Very, very rarely, I look at myself in the mirror and can actually convince myself that maybe I could be not just average-looking, but actually appealing to at least some people. Today was one of those days, after I'd showered for work and finished shaving. Sadly, by the time I got home the feeling was gone.
Jo Chen, Runaways cover artist, will be doing the 'Kaylee' cover for Serenity #2. http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0505/10/serenity2b.htm

Date: 2005-05-11 02:48 pm (UTC)A gyro is a greek food (don't listen to anyone who tells you it's Turkish, they're lying and stole it! ;))... basically hot meat strips of processed lamb (usually anyway). I believe gyro refers specifically to the meat, but when I say gyro I mean 'gyro on a pita', which is the meat, plus onions, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce (which is sort of a garlicy sour cream), wrapped up in a pita. It is the food of the gods.
Here's a pic:

Kinda normal looking HAWTZ but HAWTZ nonetheless.
See...that would explain his phobia about being seen.
It's like that stat in AD&D - Oriental Adventures where divine entities were so beautiful it was maddening.
That's how he be....drop dead gorgeous. Literally speaking.
