One of those days...
Oct. 3rd, 2011 05:23 amSo...
Saturday I was more or less fine. Pretty chilly, but it's been a very chilly couple days and the building hasn't turned the heat on yet.
Sunday I wake up with stuffed nose and a bit of a scratchy throat.
Over the rest of the day that progressed to pretty bad congestion and sinus pain and a corresponding general difficulty to concentrate.
And, guess what? Sunday, also, our hot water went out about midday.
It's still out as I get up to get to work. When I have to take a shower, naturally, especially since I didn't much feel like one on Sunday.
But, yay, guess what, because of the sickness, I got up about 3 hours early anyway because I couldn't sleep. So that gave me time to partially fill the tub with ice-cold water, then heat up a few of potloads of water to boiling and pour it in so I don't get hypothermia trying to clean myself.
By the time I have to shower, I've got a small tubful of water that's just slightly warm enough to feel pleasant compared to the air, and I manage a poor scrubdown, but have to run the cold shower anyway to rinse my hair and much of the excess soap.
And, in a few minutes I get to go off to walk to work in the chilly rain.
On the plus side, after I'm done, if I've survived, I can hopefully find some Halls and maybe some of that Hot Lemon Relief stuff on the way home.
