This week I got one book:

Young X-Men #1 (Pretty predictable all in all)

Full reviews as usual at my comic reviews site for anyone interested.

Work was okay, but I'm a little wiped from the comic walk.

Random short news bites of recent interest to me: Anthony Stewart Head's apparently going to be in a new Merlin series on NBC next year (he's not playing Merlin). There's talk of a Firefly DVD set rerelease with more commentaries. Kristin Bell and Rob Thomas are re-teaming up apparently for the pilot of a new show called Outrageous Fortune. There'll be an Office 'spinoff' next year. Steampunk movie? The director of Victoria: The Golden Age's next project is an adaptation of a novel described as 'set in a Victorian-era alternate universe in which mankind has been exploring the solar system since the time of Isaac Newton, revolves around a brother and sister who team with a band of renegade space pirates to save the world from destruction at the hands of a madman.'

Hey, that movie sounds pretty cool and it's a book to boot. You should try to read it now before people start borrowing all the copies from the library. ;-)

I'm curious about this Merlin series. I recall a Merlin miniseries from several years back but I can't remember if it sucked. But the series will have a lot of mythology to pull from. And according to ASH's site he'll be playing Arthur's father.

It's kind of annoying that all the networks are green lighting these sci fi/fantasy shows lately. Where was this interest in the genres five years ago? Suddenly it's hip to be a geek. ;-)

I don't mind, but I join very few communities and, although I don't remember what community it was off hand, it obviously wasn't something I wanted to go all in and join.

From the description it's looking like more of a kid's book though, so I dunno about picking it up. Maybe if I found it on sale or something, though.

Cool, I imagine Merlin's father will be a fairly big role (unless they just kill him off in the pilot or something), so good for him. Although I'm not sure I'm going to be interested in the series as a whole.

I don't worry about where they were in lean years, so long as they're here now. And it was always hip to be a geek! The non-geeks just weren't aware of it! :)

I was more telling you, because apparently LJ doesn't notify when people get LJ community invites. It was http://community.livejournal.com/food_in_fiction/ this one, but obviously it's just an offer. :)
