newnumber6: Ghostly being (Default)

I'm not a very 'political person', I don't 'vote' or 'care' about who's in 'charge'. Okay, I exaggerate a little. The point is, there's a provincial election (for the USers there, I'd guess the equivalent would be a race for the governorship of the state), and I really don't much care.
But man are the ads annoying the hell out of me. Especially the PC party (Progressive Conservative). Maybe it's bias cause I'm generally, in a vague not-really-caring sort of way, against some of their policies, and also because they (or at least their 'side') seems to be doing the most blatant attack ads.

The PC candidate (incumbant Ernie Eaves (sp))'s end-of-advertisement motto is, "Experience tells me, what you believe matters." Well, duh. Is he suggesting that the other guy doesn't think "what he believes matters"? Or that he had to learn that what you believe matters? No, what he means is that the other guy's beliefs are bad,w hich I suppose is fair enough, but the motto as it stands has as much relevance as the motto, "Experience tells me, water helps plants grow!".
Also, he plans to ban work-to-rule for teachers during the school year... isn't the definition of 'work-to-rule' that you only work to the terms of your contract, no more no less? How can you ban someone from not working more than they're required to. All you can do is require they do something else, but they can still work-to-rule that.
