newnumber6: Ghostly being (ghost)

This week I got:
Alpha Flight #1 (Bleh. Profoundly Disappointed)
Exiles #44 (Ehh)
Uncanny X-Men #441 (Okay, ended up a bit better than I was expecting, and HA, [livejournal.com profile] angelophile, it's explicit that Paige and Warren were NOT having sex in mid air in front of Paige's mom, so ha! ;))
Supreme Power #8 (Excellent)

In Books, I got:
Startide Rising, by David Brin (1983 Nebula & 1984 Hugo award winner)
Man Plus, by Frederik Pohl (1976 Nebula Winner)
The Moon and the Sun, by Vonda McIntyre (1997 Nebula Winner)

Also got a Gyro.
Oh, and in the mail today, I got my test back from last Thursday (My professor offers to mail it back to any student that gives an address. I can only assume his contract gives him a certain allownace for university-related postage each semester and he's decided to use as much of it as he can to get the most out of his contract)... 15/15. Woot. ;)

Heh. I read a review of Alpha Flight 1 and...Major Mapleleaf? MAJOR MAPLELEAF?

Yeah, I made the right choice.

I actually kinda liked the last (or maybe the one before last) revival of Alpha Flight, the one that Steven Seagle was writing that had them working for an Evil Goverment Conspiracy.

The Revenge of Major Mapleleaft!

To be fair, it's the _son_ of Major Mapleleaf, who's carried on the name to honor his father. Not that that makes it much better.
I never read the AF you speak of, it was during my 10 year gap away from comics. The last AF I remember clearly had Diamond Lil, Purple Girl/Persuasion, Vindicator, and Box being among the most prominent, at least in my memories. I think the last thing I remember was Guardian returning, and I wanted to throw the book across the room at that. Vindicator was _so_ much better than Guardian, and without Guardian around. ;)
I may have to do a 'What I'd Do With Alpha Flight' eventually to just get the disappointment out of my system, though. ;)

Moon and the Sun is a really good book, IMO. I have read that one. ;)
