New Comic Day and Work Day!
May. 25th, 2005 05:07 pmThis week I got:
Batgirl #64 (good issue, even though it was mostly a single fight)
Excalibur #14 (almost incomprehensible)
New X-Men Hellions #1 (of 4) (Quite enjoyable, I enjoy a more in-depth look at the characters)
Outsiders #24 (not thrilled with the art or the direction with the character, but okay)
Sleeper Season Two #12 (of 12) (Good, but a little unsatisfying)
Return of Donna Troy #1 (shouldn't have bought this, this did not do a thing to build my interest in the character)
Runaways #4 (Great, as usual. My pick of the week)
Ultimates 2 #6 (not one of the best issues, thanks to Millar piling on the humiliation, but some good aspects)
X-Men #170 (well, at least that plot's over)

Also picked up "On the Beach" by Nevil Shute from the used bookstore, because I collect classic post-apocalyptic novels and hadn't got that one yet. For lunch, had the Whopper-for-$2-on-Wednesdays. Person behind me didn't realize they had that offer until they saw me get it and got the same thing. I feel good, like I helped someone get an affordable meal. ;)
Random weird subway encounter:
As I was heading down the stairs to the subway, I realized the train was
already there and I wouldn't make it. I did, though - because someone
had their bike stuck in the door. I managed to get in behind him when
the door opened again to let it through... but then the subway driver
came out of his little alcove and told the guy with the bike to get off
the train - he'd done this before, apparently, stuck his bike in the
door. The guy didn't respond or move, so the driver said it again,
and said if he didn't they'd just call security to meet them at Bloor
Station. Bike-guy said "fine", and the driver went in to close the
doors and start the train... except just as he was closing the doors,
bike guy put his bike through the door and wedged his way through until he
was on the outside. Weird.
