Well, a number of reasons, but one of the most prominent is that I just don't _like_ movies enough to go see it myself. I mean, sure, if it's something that I really, really, really want to see, then maybe. X-Men ones, for example... except with those kind of movies usually people in my family want to see too so I can go with them. Hellboy isn't in the category, it's in the 'I'd go see it if I was going with someone' category.
Also, when left to my own devices I put off doing almost anything that requires going out as long as I can. So, since I don't have the obligation to be there at a specific time to see it with someone, then I'd most likely just never wind up seeing it. And, hey, if I'm going to spend 3+ hours of my life (when you count travel and waiting) on a movie, it'd be nice to have someone I can talk to about it who was there too. ;)

For what it's worth, it's a surprisingly good movie. And I think I'm about as much of a 'movie-hater' as you are (though for me it's more that I dislike going to the theater than that I don't like seeing the actual movies).

Then again, I actually *prefer* going to the movies alone. If I'm gonna be with someone, I'd rather it were in a context where I could actually interact with them.
