Soccer, bah!

newnumber6So, apparently Greece won this Euro Soccer (Football to anyone across the ocean) tournament thing.
Despite being (half-)Greek, I normally wouldn't care one way or the other. I'm not into sports.
However, I also live in the middle of the Greek area of town.
As such, people haven't stopped honking since they won, and likely won't stop honking for several hours.
On Thursday, they also won, and didn't stop honking until 12:30am, and it wasn't even the last game.
So yeah, annoyance..
And yet, there's some small part of me that wants to go out there. Oh, no, I still don't care about the game, but there's a part of me that just wants to join in something that connects me to other people, to participate in the celebration, to be out among people. Really, what it is, is there's a part of me that wishes I could feel such a connection. I don't feel terribly connected to people right now... haven't for a long time, really, but currently to an exceptional degree.
Of course, I don't go out there, both because I know it'd be a meaningless gesture and a wasted effort, and also because I couldn't leave and come back without anybody here knowing I left, which means I'd have to attempt to explain it, even a little. So, it's not worth it.
And anyway, I still just wish they'd just shut up. I mean, come on, if you want to cheer, okay, fine. Have a party, whatever. But the obnoxious honking by every Greek car that passes has got to stop.
