New Comic Day
Oct. 1st, 2003 01:23 pmSo, went out for new comic day. This week I got: Exiles #35 (Okay, but nothing special), New Mutants #5 (the new artist is at times better and at times worse, but the story is good), New X-Men #147 (Just bleh. I've a feeling I'm not going to like New X-men again until Morrison leaves), Supreme Power #3 (Very good. Warning: contains comic book nudity and coarse language), and Ultimate Six #2 (Not bad, if the recap page didn't spoil something later in the issue).
I also picked up the following books from the Science Fiction bookstore down the street from my comic place:
Visitors, by Clifford Simak, Venus Plus X, by Theodore Sturgeon, the Best of Fritz Leiber short story collection. All of those were cheapie used books.
Also picked up a copy (non-used) of Finder, by Emma Bull. I've heard good things about Finder, but I can't remember if it's Finder the novel, which I got, or Finder the possibly-entirely-unrelated comic series, or whether it's both. Still, I figured I'd give it a try.
On the way home, there was charity subway pizza available, but I was already jonesing for some Gyro, so I had a difficult decision to make. I like to support charity by buying tasty things, but I also didn't want to disappoint the to-be-eaten gyro. So, I compromised. I had both. Charity Subway Pizza, and gyro! (Though I skipped the onion rings I usually buy with the gyro)

Date: 2003-10-01 01:16 pm (UTC)The first two trades (Sin-Eater) are one huge story, and maybe not the ideal place to start (though I love them). The others are all relatively stand-alone works, though Talisman uses some characters from Sin-Eater (though it's not really necessary to have read one to enjoy the other).
