100 Question Survey Thingie

The 100
Answer them as fully as you want, there's no set format. Post your answers in YOUR journal.

100. Does society need leaders?

I think leaders are good, they're a nice focal point for things to happen, but you can't place absolute trust, faith or power in leaders. I like the idea of being governed by laws and not by men.

99. Do you talk about yourself a lot?

Yeah, I think I do, when I'm actually comfortable talking. I guess I'm a bit egocentric, but I have trouble thinking of things to say at the best of times, and so talking about myself is easiest. However, when I'm in a conversation IRL I've been told I don't talk about myself much either, so, who knows.

98. Have you and I ever intentionally interacted outside of situations provided for by Educational institutions?

Uhm, no, I don't think so, at least not directly, before I stole the survey from you.

97. Have I directly or indirectly caused or influenced you to change or behave differently? If so was it for better or worse?

Nope, sorry, except to make me copy this survey.

96. Would you say you're an aggressive person?

NO!

95. Are you sometimes depressed for no reason?

Often

94. Do you constantly need something to occupy yourself?

Need? No... seek out, yeah.

93. Whom do you honestly think of most during the course of a day?

Me. I'm a self-centered bastard. However, in my defense, I think about alternate versions of me... currently, most often I think about my [livejournal.com profile] alternaljournal, because it's fun to work out the day to day events of him and the longer range plans. I also think about MUSH characters past and present.

In terms of other people - probably my brother because he's right here.

92. Do you put a lot of value in words?

I think words have a lot of value, but usually when people say 'do you put a lot of value in words' they mean do you trust people say or what they actually do, and in that case it'd be the latter.

91. Do you tend to think in terms of the long-term and big picture, or focus on the daily actions?

A little of both. For my own self, I tend to think just on day to day stuff and have trouble thinking
long term. For other stuff though I get caught up in various long term possibilities.

90. Do you often watch the sun rise?

Nope.

89. Is the idea of monogamy laughable?

I don't think so. I personally am all for monogamy. For the 'stable' alternatives (just an easy term I have for ones where it's clear to all involved what the situation is, such as open relationships or polygamous situations), I have my doubts about how well they're working, but if other people want to go to it, more power to them. I do not like infidelity and the lying though.

88. What instruments can you play?

Any. Well? None, but I did study the Trombone in junior high. I also sucked at it though.

87. What's your favorite thing to drink?

Ginger Beer.

86. Are you presently worried about anything?

Not specifically no. Worried about how long I'm going to have to live an unhappy life, but it's not an active worry, it's just general background worriation.

85. Tell me one thing you don't know for certain but hope is true.
That there's intelligent life elsewhere in the Universe. (because there's bugger all down here on Earth)

That there's no afterlife as traditionally conceived.

84. The typical amount (in hours) of sleep you're functioning on? (I use the term "functioning" loosely)

Lessee, I usually get about 8 hours sleep at night, and occasionally nap for an additional hour or two during the day.

83. Do you take much interest in the secrets of others?

I am kind of interested in them, yeah.

82. Is there anything keeping you from being happy?

Me and my own winding neuroses.

81. Would you ever be a missionary?

Not a religious one, no, but if I found a philosophy worth spreading, maybe, but I doubt it.

80. Do you know why or ever question why you believe the things you do? Is it more important to just have the belief?

I tend to try and question my beliefs when I can.

79. What's the last thing you cried for?

Can't recall.

78. What is the most important thing in your life?

Family, I guess.

77. Does the sight of blood freak you out?

No, not especially, although usually when there's a lot of it, that's a bad sign about _something_.

76. Do you have a lot of regrets?

Boatloads.

75. Do you often partake in illegal substances?

Don't think I ever do. There are a whole bunch of legal substances I don't partake in either.

74. Have you cooked a meal for yourself? (Not microwaved) If so, what?

Yes, just today in fact I cooked curry chicken flavoured Mr. Noodles.

73. Have you ever considered the arm services?

No, both of my parents were/are military, and so I have no interest.

72. Does God play any role in your life?

I don't believe in any gods, so they play no more role than any other fictional characters, and less than many.

71. Do you put any stock in the Zodiac?

Not especially, no. But it's fun to play with sometimes.

70. Have you ever acted out of character to attract someone?

To be honest, I don't even really know what 'out of character' is anymore. The character I am usually in any social situation where I might have a chance to attract people, actually has less chance to attract people, and it's not who I feel I am internally.

69. In a choice between only the two, would you prefer Chinese food or Italian food?

Chinese food.

68. Name any ambition you have, large scale or small.

Write professionally.

67. How much are you affected by the suffering of others?

A little, but I can build off a dam so that big events don't trouble me. Personal stories of people I know can worry me though.

66. Do you often complain about terms used in the pejorative sense? (Saying something is "Gay" for example.)

I'm easy-going and think there are more important things to complain about, assuming they're not saying it in the sense of 'You're gay, so you're bad!', but rather 'This is so gay.'.

65. Do you enjoy silence?

Sometimes.

64. Are you tired of answering questions yet?

A little.

63. What is your earliest memory?

I can't remember. Probably playing in the basement with my brother when we were 3.

62. Do you find yourself in front of a screen more often than you'd like?

I dunno.

61. In terms of injuries, is there anything you've ever worried about happening to you in particular?

I'm terrified of anything that'd permanently paralyze me and prevent me from ending my own life if it came right down to it.

60. Are you comfortable with your appearance?

Ehhh, I'm not thrilled with it but I don't overly stress on it either. I'm okay being mildly unattractive.

59. Personally, if it came down to it, would you want "Heroic Action" taken to keep you alive, or would you want your plug pulled?

I want my plug pulled.

57. Is there a conviction you hold that you would sacrifice your life for?

Yes, several.

56. Do you have a favorite breakfast cereal? If so, which?

Not really. I kind of like the big ones with dried fruit and some nuts though.

55. Are you indecisive?

I dunno, on the one hand, yes, and on the other hand, no...

so, yes. ;)

54. Have you ever fired a gun? If so, at something?

No, and I hope I never will. I really find absolutely nothing appealing to a gun.

53. What was the last book you bought?
Not counting comics, I believe it was 'The Best Science Fiction Of The Year #9', a short story collection. Haven't read it yet.

52. Would you say you swear often?
Hell no!

51. Do you have any pets?
Not myself, no, but I live with someone who has a cat.

50. Would you ever be on a Reality TV program?
When I watch a number of reality shows I imagine myself in them, and part of me likes the idea of going on one, but no, I would never be on one.

49. Do you find sex or violence more obscene?
Violence.

48. Have you ever used your appearance for personal gain?
I don't imagine I could.

47. Tell me three of the most poignant things you've ever had said to you and who said them.
3?
"Love is the condition in which someone else's happiness is essential to your own." Spider Robinson, relaying the words of Robert A. Heinlein, on TV.

46. What do you consider the darkest moment in human history?

Maybe it's just because it's been in the news lately and I've seen some specials on it, but probably the Holocaust... not so much for the mass killings, which, well, happens in history, but for the systematic inhumanity and dehumanization.

45. What do you feel is the most important thing to know about someone?

What kind of person they are.

44. Who's the last person you were formally introduced to?

Hmmmm... probably a friend of my dad and stepmom.

43. Given a choice between movies or music, exclusively, for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

Movies, no contest.

42. What's something you'd like to be able to ask people in general?

If they had to answer: What's your deepest darkest secret. Cause then that would rock, and I'd never lack for money!

But really, I don't know.

41. What decade is the majority of the music you listen to from?

Music? Listen to?

40. Do you feel distanced from the people in your daily life?

Yeah.

39. To the best of your knowledge have you ever made someone cry?

Not deliberately to my knowledge, but I'm sure I have at some point unintentionally.

38. When was your last haircut?

September I think.

37. Name a language you wish you were fluent in.

Plenty of them... german, chinese, a few others.

When both are willing and awake. Ideally I'd suggest being in love.

35. Do you contemplate existentialism often?

Sometimes.

34. When is the last time you acted carefree without concern for the way you appeared to others?

When I wasn't being observed.

33. Do you ever feel like the explanations for things detracts from their beauty?

No, I tend to think the opposite... that explanations enhance the beauty. I don't need them, but I like them.

32. Did you take either of the other two surveys?

Other two surveys?

31. Would you prefer to live in a dense metropolitan area or a more isolated rural area?

I like metropolitan areas because I'm near to all I need... if that wasn't a factor, I'd probably like a rural area. Really, the best compromise would be a isolated rural area and the ability to teleport at will anywhere I want. That would rock.

30. What's the last thing that made you smile?

Imagining living in a rural area with the ability to teleport anywhere I want. That would rock.

29. Who's your favorite fictional character?

Me. Fictional me rocks! Really, I don't know that I have one fictional character I like. There are plenty.

28. What are you most proud of?

Being a decent person.

27. Who on your friends list do you wish you knew better?

A lot of them.

26. What's the last song you heard for the first time?

I don't recall.

Well, it was comic day, and I had to do some grocery shopping, so probably about $50 in all.

24. Does nudity in film bother you?
In all the right ways.

23. Do you prefer hot or cold weather?
Cold, because you can always do something to warm up, but when it's hot, you're just stuck like that unless you have A/C.

22. Were you ever mean as a child for no reason?
Probably at times. Kids are vicious little beasts. I don't recall any specific instances.

21. What is the single most frustrating thing to you?
Human intolerance.

20. Do you worry about being boring?
Yeah, a lot, I think I am pretty boring.

19. How certain of your career path are you?

18. What is any motive justifies a war?
To stop evil.

17. Name an action you respect.
Honesty when it's difficult.

16. Could you watch your favorite movie a thousand times and not get tired of it?
So long as I only watched it once a year or so, sure.

15. When was the last time you felt like giving up?
This morning.

14. Who do you think you know the best?
Probably my brother, but even then not so much.

13. Forced to choose, would you prefer to be color-blind or be unable to taste things?
Probably color-blind. I like colors, but I could do without them.

12. If you had to permenantly relocate to another country, which would it be?
Probably the US because it'd be easiest.

11. Do you have any scars? If so, tell the story of how you got one.
I have the tip of a pencil wedged far beneath the skin on my middle finger, at the crease just below the finger tip. I was looking for a die that rolled between couch cushions while playing D&D once and encountered a pencil that was similarly lost, and out for vengeance. My skin healed over the pencil tip
and although it looks odd, it causes no pain.

10. Carebears, Fraggles, Muppets, or Smurfs?
Muppets, if I had to choose, I guess.

9. Have all of your responses been honest?
More or less.

8. What is the difference between acceptance and giving up?
Sometimes there is no difference, but giving up is usually wider and encompasses times when you know you can still continue but choose not to.

7. What's your most cherished possession?
My computer probably, or my books. Not big on 'possessions'.

6. What's your favorite "health" food?
Gyros.

5. What happened in the last dream you can recall?
I was yelling at my dad about something, can't remember what. I get along great with my Dad, so was kind of odd.

4. Tell me what you think is the first thing people notice about you.
'He looks weird, I hope he's not going to talk to me.'

3. Tell me what you wish was the first thing people noticed about you.
'Man he's hot'.

I don't want the world to know anything about me.

1. Tell me something that wasn't what you expected it to be.
My answer to _this_ question!
