A Test Of Will
Mar. 10th, 2005 05:19 pmI have just made a bold, sudden, spur-of-the-moment decision.
I'm going to give up potato chips. Despite that I love them.
Well, not give them up, entirely, but cut waaay back on them. As it stands, I probably spend about $10-15 on potato chips. I'm going to try and cut that down to 1 bag a month, plus on special occasions. I will of course eat chips normally if I'm, say, at a family gathering and there are chips provided for snacks. I'm just not going to be buying them myself.
Why? Well, the money's the main thing, just realized how much I toss into my gut. Another thing is to test whether I can do it. A test of will, so to speak. To give up something I love, pare back one more thing I've come to depend on. Plus, I imagine I could do without the extra junk calories coming in - I don't weigh overly much, and my shape's getting better with regular exercise, but I imagine cutting out the chips will help cut down the lingering tummy.
I'm starting after my birthday, because, well, when you're in the middle of an annual winter depression it's no time to be cutting off a support line. ;).
