So, on Saturday I bought my first bag of chips since April 1st. It wasn't the first I'd eaten since when out for a family thing there were chips, but still, phase 1 has succeeded. Next time around will probably be more difficult since it'll be one month rather than 15 days. Still... it wasn't really that hard. Sure, there were times I wanted something to munch on, and had cravings, but never a moment where I actually thought about going to get some even though I'd decided not to have any. So, it seems, my 'addiction to chips' was only metaphorical after all.

And Dream Foo - Full of Zombies. Like, Zombies everywhere. It was a small town, and at first I was out and about, but finally as the zombies started getting more numerous I sought refuge in a house with a woman who had somehow escaped it. Next thing I remember is like thousands of zombies pounding on the door, and about to break through, but we'd somehow found or developed a weapon. We were running through the house and zapping them - any of the zombies hit by the zap ray just turned to dust, and we had to kill hundreds like that (including a giant zombie millipede) before we drove them out of the house again. Finally some days later we heard voices outside, and so opened the window and found that everybody was normal again, there was a cure, and somehow the cure involved us, something we'd done before the zombie plague was overwhelming, I guess. I think it was actually something the woman did, rather than anything I did. After a brief period of quarantine to make sure we weren't carrying anything that could reignite the zombie plague, there was a big parade with speeches. I woke up before I got to mine, thankfully.

Ok two things...why aren't you allowed to have chips? lol I know you mentioned not having them before...but why? And secondly, why do guys all have an obsession with zombies? :P It's a thing, seriously.

Zombies? I don't think I have an obsession with them, it was just a dream, probably due in part to the popularity of them in the movies lately. Though zombies do have some appealing characteristics in the horror genre - they spread quickly, so what was once one monster turns into thousands and a very scary situation very quickly. If they're the slow zombies, there's also that sense that maybe, just maybe, if you were in the situation you could try and survive (which unless you're a superhero or something, you can't do against most types of monsters... they're way faster or stronger, even if they have a weak spot).

As to the chips, somewhere about a month ago I realize how much money I spend in a given month on chips.. I'd buy at least 10 bags a month probably. In addition to the money, I figure they're probably not doing too much for my health. So, I'm cutting myself down to buying one bag a month. I'm also sort of on a semi-ongoing quest to see what pleasures in life I'm able to do without, before fate takes the choice from me - I'm slowly reducing my regular gyro intake levels as well.

Oh. Now I understand the chips thing. :) And about the zombies, I didn't mean obsessed actually, I just meant that many guys are know LOVE zombies movies so much and I don't really understand why. But your comments helped a bit, so thanks. :)

Well, I wouldn't say I love zombie movies either, but I can appreciate they have some characteristics others don't. I don't think I've seen a zombie movie, aside from Shaun of the Dead (which was more of a romantic comedy with zombies than a 'zombie movie') in something like 10 years, unless you count when one was on TV and nothing else was on. I'd probably choose to watch a zombie horror movie over a serial killer slasher movie, or a 'monster in the closet' movie, but given the choice I'd probably go with a non-horror sci-fi or something. Especially since a lot of the time modern 'horror' movies rely on the gross-out factor. Now, a zombie _novel_ might be cool, depending on the premise.

You're so right about modern horror movies and the gross-out factor. Now I should mention that I'm a scaredy-cat when it comes to scary movies so I don't see actual scary ones like The Ring etc but I've seen the teen ones like Scream etc. I'd much rather watch a nice Romantic Comedy or Drama or Sci-Fi movie, but if I'm in the mood to be a little scared, then I'll get a thriller or specifically a psychological thriller. :) Btw, speaking of sci-fi movies, my dad's visiting a reminded me of this (cause he showed me and gave me this movie) have you see Thirteenth Floor? It's a great sci-fi movie.

Yeah, I have... it's enjoyable, of course when I saw it I already went into it knowing some of the twists and guessing others, so it might not have been as effective as it could have been... but some nice concepts in it, anyway.

Back to Horror for a moment, I wouldn't mind seeing the Ring because I've heard that it is genuinely creepy, but haven't got around to it yet. Otherwise there hasn't been a lot recently that's interested me. I've seen a couple of the Scream ones and it was okay as they go. Mostly when I go see a horror movie though I really am interested in the feeling of 'what would I do in that situation', even more than in other types of movies. So ones with nifty concepts that I might have a chance of surviving are ones I look for. Cube, The Faculty (though both are sci-fi/horror and not all too serious). I used to be big on the Nightmare on Elm Street ones when I was a kid because I loved the whole dream aspect, but that was about as gory as I went.

Lol I wasn't allowed to watch scary movies as a kid so I haven't seen the Freddy movies but the whole dream idea is great cause you can't NEVER fall asleep...*spooky music* But like I said, horror movies are scary...I'm even afraid of the previews...I mute them and look away lol. I only mentioned Scream as a horror movie that I've actually seen cause I haven't seen all that many due to my scaredy-catness lol. I have a very vivid imagination so I figure that adding scary and gory stuff into it will probably assure myself having very scary nightmares lol.

chuckle. In my case it's almost the opposite. I don't really ever get nightmares about anything, and although I can get startled by something in a movie I don't really get scared from them for the most part. Even gore doesn't really gross me out, I'm just not interested in a movie relying on that for scares - a good creepy concept is much better.

I'm so jaded, heh. ;)

Clearly you must be lol. :P I also don't like watching scary movies not just cause I'm afraid it'll pop up in a nighmare (my friend Steve says some of his nightmares are black and white now like parts of The Ring---CREEPY lol) but also just cause if I get really creeped out due to a concept in a movie, I'll be all disturbed and think about it for days...which unless it's an interesting make you think concept, it's just going to be a creeping me out feeling...

Yeah. I think I may have just a hyperdeveloped 'oh, it's not real' instinct though. I know when I was kid I'd get serious nightmares, and really get freaked out by horror movies. Scared of roller coasters, too. But somewhere along the line I developed the ability to quash any fears about anything that my mind can tell me is 'not real danger'. Now, I can have dreams about zombies but I don't consider them nightmares because when I wake up, I just think, "Huh, that was an interesting dream." Don't get scared from scary movies, or roller coasters. It's kind of a shame too because I get the sense I'm missing something.

I just wish I could use it for the stupid things I _am_ afraid of, like going up and speaking in front of people. But then again, I'm not afraid of movies about going up and speaking in front of people, and I'm sure I'd be pretty scared if I was being chased by a zombie in real life, so maybe it's just very good at distinguishing between 'real' and 'not real' and not so good at distinguishing 'dangerous' and 'not dangerous'. ;)

Yeah I get your point. :) For me it's just that I don't like feeling scared while watching movies (or reading books either) I know there's a rush from stuff like that which is why people watch/read horror, but personally, I just like to be entertained. It'd be great though if your not fearing scary movie stuff could be translated into real life, but see there's the catch because unlike a movie, this time it IS you and you DO have to deal with it. It's not a "I wonder what I'd do if" situation anymore. And with it being real means real consquences, so if you say throw up on your boss or something, you can't just fast forward or tape over that part. ;)
