Over at http://www.newsarama.com they've given some of the comic news from the conventions, including creative team changes, the new lineup for New Excalibur, and more...
My thoughts below..
So as part of 'infinite crisis' most or all of DC's titles will have a "One Year Gap", jumping a year into the future. ... I'm not too sure on that, could be good, could suck. We'll see.
New Excalibur's partial lineup - Captain Britain, Nocturne (guess since Kurt wasn't available), Juggernaut, Dazzler, and Pete Wisdom. And oh yes, written by Claremont. I'll give it a shot at least, but I'd rather Claremont was done to one.
Chris Bachalo is the new regular penciler on Uncanny X-Men... bleh. Not a fan of him, and the sample art on the title does not make me change my mind. That should suck. On the other hand, it'll probably be one title where Claremont's obsessive narration of things that are clearly happening on page won't be a detriment - half the time I need some sort of explanation on what's going on in Bachalo's work.
NO! Weir and deFillipis off New X-Men, replaced by Kyle and Yost, creators of X-23 (and writers for X-Men Evolution)... bleh! So, of course, naturally she's joining the team. More bleh, I say.
Exiles at least gets me squeeing like a fanboy... looks like they're due to visit a whole bunch of Marvel's classic parallel universe/futures... including Squadron Supreme, Heroes Reborn, Future Imperfect, 2099, and, the one that got me squeeing, NEW UNIVERSE! Woo! I have to stay with the title that long, at least.
Colossus mini might be okay, have to see more. Comicon's Pulse has a more detailed story on that one. But man, the New X-Men news is really disappointing.

This can only end in tears.
Bachalo as regular penciller on Uncanny? Ehhhh....
The New X-men change?
I figure it's only temporary to handle X23's intro into the book, rather than a permanent change...

Date: 2005-06-03 06:14 pm (UTC)Worst move Marvel have made since a Shatterstar mini...
Very disappointed by this. Her comments make it sound like the new "direction" won't even follow the same characters.
Terrible news...

Date: 2005-06-04 03:11 am (UTC)X-23 has been pretty much rock steady at the 55,000 mark each month.
Whereas New Mutants was coming in around the 35,000 mark each month til Reload, when sales leapt up by 20,000 readers.
But the writers have been totally unable to hold onto any of those readers and the book's threatening to dip below the level of previous sales. To lose 25,000 readers in a year isn't a good record.
Which sucks, because it's an X book I really enjoy. But with it sneaking closer their cancellation zone, I can see why Marvel would want to do something.
Quesada's said a number of times that he feels the book fills a worthwhile slot in the X-men franchise, and I can see why, rather than cancel i entirely, he'd want to give the book a "fresh start".
I'm hoping they do go the fresh route though, and give the writers maybe a mini to close off their stories (rather than the suggested one shot) and have the characters move on and a sense of closure.
I'm gonna email Marvel saying as much.
