For every year you've been alive, post at least one memory from that year (if you can remember anything). It can be something big or something small, something positive or something negative.

Hmmm... I'm going to go mostly with more or less neutral random memories. Since my memory for putting events in chronological order is very bad, I had to do a bit of looking things up to confirm it happened in a certain year, and a tiny bit of just plain guesstimating.

- No memories. I was a bit too wee.

- See above.

- See above

- See above.

- A birthday cake shaped like big bird.

- Being in Kindergarten and waiting for my brother to get home from his all-day school so we could play D&D.

- Big Brother Is Watching You!... no, wait, that's from the BOOK 1984. Hmmm... I think 1984 roughly corresponds to Grade 1. All I really remember is that we had a shared class, and I had a crush on a neighbor girl who was in Grade 2. We used to play together (I remember a big red tape recorder we used to do stupid plays with)

- This is very rough because I'm horrible with dates. I think by this time we'd moved to Toronto. In Grade 2 I was seated right across from a horrible little girl who would kick me under the table and accuse me of kicking her. I possibly did kick her, but only in retaliation.

- Remember the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon? According to something I read online, it ended in Dec 1985. I remember vividly sometime after it ended, seeing a fragment of commercial for it (probably an error by the channel) and being convinced it was coming back and it never did. I loved the show, so it was disappointing. I can only assume this happened in early 1986.

- I believe I changed schools this year. I remember one of my friends from my old school giving me a GI Joe as a 'goodbye' gift. He wasn't even one of my best friends, but I thought it was awful nice of him.

- I had a friend at school who I introduced to some of my favorite comics, and we worked together to tell our own stories, some using the comics and some making our own characters up. I also remember him telling me storys of the Jinn.

- Went to Disneyworld in Sept of 1989. I know the year because it was the same year as Hurricane Hugo. We drove down and drove back, and on the way back we followed Hugo's path up the coast.

- According to my journal from this grade I wrote a story called Path of the Unicorn. I actually do remember writing it (but without looking it up I wouldn't remember when). So I guess that makes this my memory of the year. I believe it was also the year my parents started their divorce.

- Moving to Junior High mid year, just after January, walking in that first day, feeling out of place.

- I can't remember for sure if this was 92 or 93, but I had a friend, who delivered newspapers after school. Often, I'd go along with him and we'd chat. He had a big dog that he sometimes brought along with him. One day he asked me to hold the dog's leash while he ran across the street to deliver a paper. So I did. Except after he ran across the street, the dog ran after him. Apparently the dog was much stronger than I was, especially when I wasn't really ready for it to go tearing off. I went flying, literally, off my feet, into the street, banging myself against the curb a number of ways. I remember being sore and wounded and scraped a number of places, but I didn't cry or shout or anything, just sort of said, (after I said that I was all right) "I think I'm going to go home, though."

Also, the midpoint of Grade 8 in early 1992 I got my first F, in Band. There was a big assignment assigned before Xmas break, only I was absent that day and I never formally heard about it. I sort of informally heard bits about it but I never really followed up, until it was due and so I got 0. It was a big part of our mark that term so I failed the course. (The next year that music teacher died, incidentally)

- Grade 9 I was chatting on an online chat system set up by the school district, covering the schools in North York. One of the people I chatted with occasionally was a girl in my school, but a grade behind. I'd never met her, but she claimed to know who I was (not automatically, but after various attempts to describe ourselves). So at one point we sort of said that she should come by and say hi. And she did, once during one of the big 'track and field days'. I said "So, you're (her name, but horribly mispronounced, because I'd only read it online and never heard it aloud)'. She corrected me. Awkward moment. Some sort of 'hi'. Then she basically left, and we went separate ways.

- Grade 10. I remember in computer class I let a girl cheat off me on a test. Not because I had much interest in her, but I'm a soft touch and she claimed to really need help. Because of the setup of the class (our 'desks' were the space of the table left beside the computer) it wasn't that hard to just not hide my paper like we're supposed to and pretend to be oblivious. It was just the once, though.

- Grade 11 Biology. Specifically, going to lunch immediately after class almost once a week with two girls who sat with me. One immediately in front of me, one right beside me (my lab partner, and also coincidentally the girl I had the biggest crush on that year. Of course, nothing came of it).

- Grade 12. Took an OAC Law class. We had a fake trial (based on a real case we had to research), and I was a witness. Two, actually. But the big one was where I played the victim's brother. I remember one question where the lawyer from the other side asked (again) if we were close, I said yes, and then asked if we discussed her sex life, and I said 'well, not in graphic _detail_, but in general, yeah' which got a laugh I think. My class was the prosecution, and another class was the defense. We got a hung jury.

- Going to Canada's Wonderland late at night for graduation with a bunch of people from my school. Riding lots of roller coasters in the dark.

- The last quarter of 1998 I started university (yeah, I took a year off). I remember going in to orientation for a complimentary 'continental breakfast' only to be vaguely disappointed to learn that meant 'danishes and coffee'. Also meeting who was supposed to be my 'study group', which was nice but only lasted the one year, and getting thrown out of a class for talking early on (mostly to be made an example of so everyone else knew to shut up when class starts). I know that's three memories, but it's hard to choose just one. Besides, I don't have entries for the first 4 years, so I have to make it up somehow.

- The sweet revenge of discovering that the class that I got thrown out of for talking, I wound up acing the exam and getting the highest mark in the class. And it was a tough class, too. Symbolic logic, Leibniz' rule and all that.

- Meeting SF author Robert J. Sawyer in my Science Fiction humanities class. Also, watching Columbine play out when I was supposed to be studying for an exam the next day.

- Let's go with the obvious one. 9/11, hearing about people talk about a plane hitting the WTC while walking towards class, and thinking they were talking about a movie or TV show. Then hearing in class, but not knowing what was going on, then getting home and getting online with a bunch of people discussing it.

- Going to an Xmas party for work, returning home and discovering that something screwed up in my attempt to tape Firefly, which was airing that night (Objects in Space). I later wound up downloading the episode on my dad's computer and watching it there.

- I'm having trouble remembering specifics of which classes I had in 2003, or of any significant events in my life (see how dull I am?). So, I'm going to look up movies, and I see that X-Men 2 came out in 2003. So I'll just go with seeing that.

- Getting my first apartment. More specifically, when my dad needed us all out of the house so the real estate agent could have an open house, I decided to walk up to my new place to see how long it take and move the very first batch of my stuff over. So I walked up, put a bagfull of stuff in what would become my room, and just sat there, sort of soaking it in, that this was my place now, and my first time in a 'pay rent to live' rather than 'mooch off family while going to school' situation.

- Seeing a preview screening of Serenity and getting to meet Sean Maher.

Yeah, no stealing my life! Or, I suppose if you could find some way to manage it, only if you replace it with one of equal or greater value!

No refunds. Unless I don't like the other life I got in return. In which case, yes refunds! (See, that's what you call a strong negotiating position!)
