Two dreams that I could remember. In one, I was a cop in some cheap cop show. We were taking down this guy who ran a supermarket/restaurant in NYC. He was selling drugs, I think. Anyway, we took him down, mainly because he was obsessive compulsive about his business being clean and so stopping in the middle of a deal to clean the shelves, which gave us the chance we needed to move in and catch him by surprise. Anyway, the other cops lead him out and handcuffed him, and I was about to leave, but then I noticed that they were serving Jamaican Beef Patties.
As some people who've talked to me online may know, that's one thing we have that's common here that I was surprised to find that no one in the states I'd talked to seemed to have heard of. Since we were in the states, I was surprised and I was like, "Wow, so you _do_ have Jamiacan beef patties here.." and the person behind the counter (who for some reason looked an awful lot like actor Michael Rappaport) told me yeah, but they don't call them that, they call them some weird name.. can't remember it... Kookileik, with a silent k or something. I thought that was weird, but he thought 'jamaican beef patties' were weird. Anyway, I ordered one and tried to memorize the name so I could tell people that I finally figured out what it was.
Then I woke up.

Later, after I'd fallen asleep again, I dreamed that we'd moved, and I was in a new place, and I was waking up for the first time in this new house, only to find a bunch of people there.. they were all neighbors and they were all 'pitching in' by painting the room... except they started while I was asleep in the same room.

1. While it's clearly a source of strength and moral grounding for some, on the whole organized religion's been more trouble than it's worth.
2. You should be honest wherever possible. However, a) being technically literally true in a way that will be taken the wrong way is acceptable in certain circumstances, and b) in areas where a person has no business whatsoever asking, and the true answer would lead to severe embarassment, persecution, or potential severe harm, and no answer would tend to be construed as a particular answer, it is permissable to outright lie.
3. Humanity should make every effort to expand out into the solar system and towards other stars, if it wants to survive long term. I hold no opinion on whether humanity's long term survival is necessarily a good thing, but I want to personally see us exploring space either way.
4. Many domesticated/food animals would be very quickly extinct if we didn't have these purposes for them. While they shouldn't be mistreated if at all possible, it also doesn't make much sense to stop using them under the theory that it'd be better for them.
5. While we should be cautious about genetic manipulation, we should not fear it blindly. I'll freely eat genetically modified food, and I'm more concerned about humanity's memes than our genes.
6. Anger is energy wasted, Hope is a danger, and Ego (when not done theatrically for amusement's sake) is disgusting and should be surpressed.
7. The government has no right to either kill someone who does not want to die (except where they represent a clear and present danger to someone else), or to forcibly keep someone alive who does not wish it (unless this is the result of a likely temporary severe psychological problem... but desire to die alone does not qualify).
8. Monogomy is good. While some people might manage in stable polyamorous relations, on the whole I can't see it as a good. Even dating more than one person at once rubs me the wrong way. Cheating on someone you care about enough to date is a serious betrayal. Whether two partners are of the opposite sex or the same sex is much much less relevant than that they're loyal to each other.
9. There is nothing intrinsically special about the human mind or soul that makes true artificial intelligence impossible (although our current methods towards it may be based on incorrect assumptions that are doomed to failure). When it is achieved, a sentient AI must have similar rights as a sentient biological.
10. One cannot be 100% sure of _anything_, except perhaps one's own existence, and should be aware of and acknowledge this fact. Always keep in mind the phrase 'I might be wrong', and that it's of no use to argue with a fanatic.
