Aug. 16th, 2004 12:03 pmOkay, so, on Saturday I helped my dad move out of his house (next Saturday I help him move into his new house, and in the meantime they're staying with my grandmother).
As of today, officially, the house I spent the last 7 or 8 years in (except the last 3 months) is a place that's lost to me. One more place I have to rely only on memories to see. Ah well. We got paid for the help moving (even though I would have done it without pay), so I used some of the money to buy me a gyro.
At any rate, yesterday was the first day that, after work, I couldn't stop at my dad's place before heading home.
Consequently, instead of taking my usual route home, I took a slightly quicker one (not all that significantly, walking the other way would have added 2-3 minutes at most). What I found amusing? Apparently, on that day, (I've yet to be able to find the time it happened, they just said 'morning'), there was a car accident. Nobody was hurt, but the car lost control and plowed through an empty bus shelter. That bus shelter's the one I always used to wait for to ride the bus and, on Sunday, in the morning, under my old route home, I would have passed right by it.
So, theoretically, I could have been hit by a car if either my dad hadn't moved, or I'd decided to fall back on the habit of the usual route home. Oh, sure, it most likely happened as much as 2 hours after I would have been there anyway, so I'm not reading any special meaning into it (I probably wouldn't have read any special meaning even if I narrowed it down to the exact second I would have been there). I just find it amusing. ;)
