This week I got:
Batgirl #63 (quite enjoyable, really like the creative team)
Daredevil #72 (bleh, not interested in the story and it's looking bleak for the arc)
Exiles #63 (not bad, but there still seems to be a fundamental flaw in this attempt to explain why the Timebroker's been acting strangely)
Otherworld #2 (dropping this - way too much going on, nearly incomprehensible)
Sleeper Season Two #11 (second last issue, some big moments)
Supreme Power #16 (don't care for the A-plot, but the B-plot interests me)
Ultimate Secret #2 (more decompressed than last time, but still liking this more than Ultimate Nightmare)
X-Men Phoenix Endsong #5 (a bit of a letdown, but still fairly good)
Also picked up Rising Stars Vol 3: Fire and Ash, which is FINALLY out. Haven't read it yet.
Full reviews of all except the TPB at http://www.unreachablestar.net
Also picked up 5 books for $2.50 - "When HARLE was One", "13 great SF stories", "The Patchwork Girl" by Larry Niven, one I can't remember right now, probably another short story collection, and another copy of "Alas, Babylon" just to round it out (since it was $1 a book, or 5 for $2.50).
Anyway, for lunch I had two double burgers again at McDonalds. While I was eating, I noticed that in the table right in front of me, one of the girls looked sort of like a girl I knew in high school. Since the place was full of high school kids and she looked youngish, I assumed she was one of them and the resemblance was just coincidence. Then I noticed the two were talking and seemed to be pointing in my direction, or looking at something immediately behind me. Finally, the one I didn't know asked if I was who I am, by name, and when I answered yes, said that the other person was who I thought it was. Didn't have too long a conversation, just a sort of 'how you doing' type thing. Still, it was kind of odd, and frankly, I'm astounded I was even remembered. It's been something like 10 years since we've seen each other, and although we had classes together, we were more acquaintences than anything.
Then of course, unfortunately, I had to kill her and her friend, since unfortunately I can't allow anyone who recognizes me in the field to live. Too dangerous.
Okay, none of that last paragraph happened. She got up and left and introduced her little daughter (who I hadn't seen when I was assuming she was a high school student), and then left.
Work was okayish - tired and sore (back almost went into severe pain when lifting something... managed to contain it, and now it's tired-sore, but at least not oh-god-I'm-going-to-die-sore), but as it turns out, the new driver, for the next 6 months, is one I've worked with before, and he's a fairly good one, helps out and so got done early - he showed up early too. The Wednesday run is his weekend, so he's motivated to get it done quickly, which is good for me because I'm motivated to get it done quickly too.
