First, comics...
6 books this week for me:
Daredevil #78 (not bad, things happen a little more, and it has a good ending)
New X-Men #19 (okay - just reminds me of what I dislike about this House of M crossover)
New X-Men Yearbook Special #1 (pretty fun, although a bit too saccharine. I also liked the yearbook profiles of some of the various squads, includings powers of people we've only seen)
Teen Titans #28 (Liefeld and a forgettable story)
Ultimate Secret #4 (Reasonably fun, would have liked to see more though)
Young Avengers #8 (my pick of the week, a nice mix of superheroey stuff and character work)
Full reviews of course are posted at my comic review site.
For lunch I had a corned beef sandwich (at home) and charity subway pizza.
Now work. Work was okay... the problem was the truck was 3 hours late. The good news is that they called me before I left (like a few seconds before I left) and let me know this, so I left late. In addition, I stopped by at bookstores I rarely visit due to a time issue. I picked up Wild Cards book 9 (I have 10 already but haven't read it yet because I want to do it in order), and "The Healer's War" by Elizabeth Ann Scarborough, a fantasy novel set in Vietnam... it's on the Hugo or Nebula list and haven't been able to find it elsewhere.
Also, normally what I do is I go get my comics, check the nearby used bookstore, then get back on the bus and go to work. This time I got my comics, walked down to Eaton Centre to look at various other bookstores, and then walked all the way to work, which would have been the equivalent of 6 subway stops away. I figured I'd save the cost of a bus ticket in case I got there and found out it wasn't coming till tomorrow or something. Still, it felt good to walk, even if my legs are tired now. I like walking, though... it's only the time that stops me from doing it more often. One day I'll fulfill my dream and be a post-apocalyptic drifter and walk across the continent.
Edit: Two more things. 1) Cut my finger at work on a box edge. If you have a cut on your finger, putting vinegar on your fries for dinner is not the best plan in the world. Ah well. 2) I don't normally, but I decided to make a voluntary donation to the government. In appreciation for my voluntary donation, they've given me a very tiny chance to win $40 million. (In other words, I bought a lottery ticket). I have no expectations, but I figured I might as well. The universe owes me, anyway. :)
