Blogcrime

I have an admittedly morbid interest in when bloggers commit crimes. First (well, okay, there were others first, but this was the first that I really looked into) there was the psycho who killed a whole family and kidnapped the two children, who was a blogger.

Then over the last week the news has been all over the case of a guy who murdered a 10 year old girl and intended to eat her... he had a blog too...

On a much lower scale, one LJer is accusing another of kicking her in the face with a steel-toed boot. Now, the journals of both people involved are Friends Only (with the exception of this post), and I don't know them, so I suppose it's remotely possible that it's all a hoax, but I tend to be trusting.

This week I got 3 regular books:

Birds of Prey #93 (My pick of the week, a lot of fun, like the new
characters)
Daredevil #84 (couple minor quibbles, but mostly I'm really liking Brubaker's run)
Robin #149 (entertaining, just have doubts about where the story's going)

I also picked up New Mutants Classic Vol 1: TPB, but haven't yet read it.

Full reviews as usual at my comic review site for anyone interested.

Work was okay, bit heavier than usual. Had a salami sandwich for lunch.

Now some random stuff.

Saw something interesting on the subway... ad for the LOTR musical... seen it before, but what I never noticed was they had a 'download your free ringtone RIGHT HERE from this little IR light!' thing. I don't have a cell phone or want a ringtone, but I think it's kinda nifty and that's the first kinda thing I've seen like that. I suspect there'll be a lot more of that, ads that provide content, even if it's just more ad content... ads that you can download to your shirt that display what you download, etc. The future is coming.

Also saw something else mildly interesting in a geeky way: Someone readng through what looked like an RPG handbook for a superhero game. Don't see that a lot of the time.

While I was out it occured to me that if I was ever featured on America's Most Wanted as a fugitive, instead of 'he has a tattoo of a giant snake on his arm' or 'he has fifteen gold teeth' that you hear as 'look out for this extra information', mine would be 'He sneezes almost every time he goes outside, especially if it's a bright sunny day'. And I'd be so caught the day after it aired. Good thing I'm not planning any crimes, now I just have to watch out for frameups and massive government conspiracies.

Oh, and one more thing, was at the grocery store on the way home from work. I saw potato chips were on sale. Now normally, I can resist that, I have willpower. However, I'm a big sucker for weird flavours, and they had two I've never seen before... Spicy Curry, and Wasabi. I've never even tasted Wasabi but I had to try the chips. So I bought a bag of each. I'm weak. Ah well, that's all for now.
