newnumber6: Ghostly being (Default)
This week I got just one book.

New X-Men #42 (okay, but I was hoping it would be better, a few minor glitches hurt it)

Full reviews as usual at my comic reviews site for anyone interested.

In the used bookstore I found Slow River, by Nicola Griffith (Nebula Award Winner) and Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan.

Apparently today was Talk Like A Pirate day or somejunk. I didn't participate. Or if I did, I talked like a particularly well-spoken pirate. In any event, I only spoke about 100 words probably, so not like it would be noticed. I did however participate in Walk like a Pirate Day! Though that was the result of a three hour walk home (to get comics and such), leaving me, once I got home, to shamble about the apartment as though I had a peg-leg.

And in completely pointless news, I just recently learned that US Superstation WGN has started airing Corner Gas. What's that? It's a Canadian sitcom. It's one of the best Canadian sitcoms I've seen, but that's not saying much because most Canadian sitcoms are awful, even worse than US ones. But it's still surprising it made it across the border, so good on them. Local show makes good and all, doesn't happen too often. I know the Degrassis made it to the US. Some stuff produced here but funded by the US, of course. Red Green might have skipped across the border. But beyond that, at least I haven't heard of much making it over. Anyway, Corner Gas (about life in very very small town Saskatchewan) is probably about as good or bad as US sitcoms, but I enjoy it, and it has a little Canadian flavour, so US people on my flist who get WGN might want to keep an eye out to find out a little about what Canadians are like.
