newnumber6: Ghostly being (Default)
This week as it turned out, I only got one getting one book:

Ultimate X-Men #87 (non-zombie variant) (okay, but a bit meh)

Why did I not get the zombie variant? Was it because they were out? No. It was because the zombie variant was lame. Just a closeup of a zombie Wolverine. You know, _Wolverine_ had a zombie variant issue. You don't need to do it for Ultimate X-Men, too, show some originality. Give us Zombie Pyro cooking human flesh before eating it. Give us Psylocke's old body attacking her new one. Give us Old Bishop Zombie attacking Young Bishop. Give us rockstar Dazzler eating human flesh on stage. Don't just give us crappy Wolverine. I'd rather have the normal pyro cover.

Also wound up not getting BoP #111 - didn't realize it was still the fill-in run.

Full reviews up as usual at my comic reviews site for anyone interested.

For breakfast I had Buried Treasure cereal. That's a bottom layer of Cap'n Crunch and Honeycomb cereals, completely covered with a layer of Brown Sugar Mini-Wheats (which looks like ground). And it all works, since all three cereals are pirate themed, except for the Honeycomb and Mini-wheats.

Work was okay, a bit late, though. There was a cute girl there who apparently was just starting there, doing some training, but we didn't talk at all. Still, if she winds up on a compatible schedule, it might wind up being minor motivation to get up on those cold winter mornings when I have to go to work.

Oh, and a nice find in books! In the used bookstore, I spotted an Advanced Reader's Edition of Axis, by Robert Charles Wilson (sequel to Spin) on sale, for $5. It's still in hardcover, so I snapped it up and now I won't have to wait for it to come out in paperback. Yay. Technically on the front it says it's not to be sold, but it was sold, so ha! Was tempted to get World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, non-used, because it just came out in TPB edition, but it's still $21 so I skipped it - if Canadian bookstores got around to matching their US prices (since we've got dollar parity) I might have considered it, but I'm not paying that much for it.
