Nothing, as it turned out. But the comic store across the street gave me New Comic Day!
This week I got one book:
Runaways #5 (not bad, felt a bit light and sometimes the artwork made things confusing)
Full reviews as usual at my comic reviews site for anyone interested.
Oddly enough, my comic store seemed to be missing just Runaways. Maybe they sold out early, maybe they got short-shipped, maybe it was just misstocked and I didn't see it. I didn't ask. However, there's another store across the street and I went there and found it. Backups are always nice, especially since I went to such a long trip to get it.
Anyway, work was okay. About normal load this time, and super early. Almost too early. When I arrived at work, despite showing up a good hour or so before the earliest they tend to show up, and about 2-3 hours before the average, the truck was already there, and had been so for 20 minutes. (Oddly enough, I would have left about 20 minutes earlier but on a chatmush somebody I know from my RP-days there who hadn't been on in many months showed up so I wanted to stay and say hi and such). Anyway, since I am super hard canadian worker I made up the time without much trouble and the driver didn't care. Also nice at work, I got chocolates. One of the girls who works there was giving little gift baskets with Ferraro chocolates to everybody, inlcuding me, so that was a nice surprise.
Since I got out so early, I of course did the long walk to get comics. Of course, the weather had to make that uncomfortable. It wasn't so bad at first. It was warm, which was good, and wet, which was not. The streets were filled with slush and/or water. Again, not so bad at first. Some intersections you had to walk through big pools of slushmelt, but I find I do have a bit of a talent for making quick running jumps to get over the worst of them. Made a couple mistakes and got a little wet, but not bad overall. But then, on the way home from the comic stores, there were several stretches where it was impossible to walk anywhere that didn't have a good inch or so of water, for blocks and blocks. And even worse, the light drizzle that had been throughout the day started pouring. So by the time I got home, I was tired, sore (from jumping a lot), and soaked. Ah well. At least I have my comics!
