Jumper the Movie
Feb. 17th, 2006 08:07 pmSo I got a random comment today from a LJer I've never talked to before, to my knowledge (although I think I've worked out a chain of connections to people I do know, I have no idea if that's how they found me),
ash_xander. The comment was simply to tell me that the book Jumper is being made into a movie aiming for 2007 (its sequel is also optioned to follow). First, it's a rather pleasant surprise to have someone randomly giving me information that I like.
Jumper's one of those books I reread a lot because it's just so enjoyable. It's a fairly simple story of a normal teenager with an abusive father who runs away and discovers that he, apparently alone in the world, has the ability to teleport. I suppose I like it mainly because, aside from the (thankfully) the abusive homelife and (damnably) the teleportation abilities, the main character's a lot like me, so I can slip into the story with ease. I also find it to be a very visual book... most books I read I don't tend to 'see' the events play out as I'm reading them, but this one's one of the exceptions. One of the side games I play while rereading it is imagining how I'd adapt it if it was going to be a movie or TV series (the other one is, of course, what I'd do with the powers). So naturally I'm pleased that I'll get to see how someone else does it.
Thanks,
ash_xander!
