Three books for me this week:
Astonishing X-Men #14 (quite good, with some excellent moments)
Runaways #15 (my pick of the week, great as usual, can't wait to see what happens next)
X-Factor #6 (A little unsatisfying in terms of answers, but still plenty of fun to be had)
Full reviews as usual at my comic review site for anyone interested.
For lunch I had some leftover KFC. Work was okay.
Also had a lucid dream last night.
Started out as a non lucid dream. Was watching TV with my stepmother for some reason, and anyway I realized there was a dog in the room. As it turned out (though I didn't recognize this in the dream right away), it was a dog I had a long time ago when I was a kid, a poodle. Anyway, in the dream, it was brought over temporarily by the owner (can't remember who it was but I remember it was a real person rather than a dreamshade). Anyway, I picked up the dog and was petting it when it clicked that it was mine a long time ago, and that made me check to see if it was a dream. So I checked some text, looked away, and checked again, and the text changed in the meantime (my dreamsign), so I realized it was a lucid dream. I ran down the stairs to explore outdoors, and got out, but by the time I saw anyone else or thought of anything cool to do, I started to wake up.
But I wasn't fully awake, so I was able to fall back asleep, and this time I slipped into a dream and knew right away it was a dream. I was walking outside and it was a little gray and chilly and I had the feeling it was, in the dream, December, so I just thought, 'It's a nice december morning... but perhaps it should be a nice august morning', and suddenly the weather just changed, and I smiled but tried to keep my cool (one of the annoyances of lucid dreaming is that too much excitement wakes you up, and successfully altering reality is exciting, so you sort of have to keep a neutral attitude while you do stuff to stretch it out as long as possible). Wandered around through a schoolyard but made all the people go away so I could walk freely by speaking aloud saying something to the effect of 'school's in session'. Then I decided to try and summon a person to talk to, and I did, but I didn't really get to say anything before I woke up, and this time I couldn't get back to sleep. Ah well.

Date: 2006-04-27 05:34 am (UTC)I haven't had any dreams with that sort of stuff in it in a few years though. Maybe the civilization fell into its own dark ages and they're unaware of me again, or developed into some kind of non-interference policy.
I tend to think it was my subconscious playing tricks on me and maybe self-reinforcing (since I thought it was going to happen, it did happen), but I try to keep an open mind and still behave as though everyone in the dream could be a 'person' of some sort.
