2 and a half dreams. One requires a bit more explanation.

Okay, so in the first dream (and the second, which was more of a continuation of the first, but I know I woke up in between, hence I only call the two of them 'one and a half dreams'), me and a girlfriend were ON THE RUN. FROM AN ALIEN BOUNTY HUNTER. BECAUSE WE HAD ALIEN SUPER POWERS.

Yeah, that's right.

Anyway, I should stop here for a moment and explain the powers. A long time ago I had an idea for a super-power set that was a composite of all of Power Pack's powers (or, I suppose, the same as Powerpax's powers when he was in the New Warriors). They had the powers over Acceleration (Flight), Gravity Control (degravitize/extra-gravitize by touch), Mass (shrinking or turning into a cloud), and Energy (disintegration and shooting off energy bolts from the disintegrated energy). Not terribly original, but I was very young and it was just for daydreams. Anyway, later I figured it'd be cool to give him a partner (/girlfriend) that he could share the powers with, but with a slight twist. They could pass the base powers (Acceleration, Gravity Control, Mass, and Energy) amongst themselves, but the manifestation differed. When the partner had the acceleration power, she could teleport (yes, not strictly acceleration, but I went with the Kymellian definitions and, well, if you don't know, it's not important to explain), when she had Gravity Control it morphed into 'friction control' (like Friction in DP7 or, as more people on the flist might be more aware, Friction in XET which was stolen from her), when the had the Mass power it morphed into Phasing and I can't remember what it was for the energy power. Maybe pure electrical generation. Normally they shared it so each person had two of them, but which two depended on what they felt like, and they'd sometimes swap on the fly.

Anyway, again, it's all fairly cheesy and unoriginal, but in my defense it was only intended for the confines of my own head (and was much younger when I came up with it). I'd take out the concept, daydream with it for a few minutes, then put it back in the box for a couple months, and that's all I needed from it. Still do it now and then, like I do with hundreds of other little ideas, many stolen from book concepts.

The only reason anyone outside my head is even hearing about it is to explain the dream. In the dream I didn't need any explanations, of course, I just instantly knew that's what powers we had (even though we never actually used any of the powers in the dream so the explanation was almost superfluous, it matters to me and without the explanation I might forget which of many possible powers we had when I reread the dream down the line).

Back to the dream. We had been on the run for a while. The alien looked human and could somehow track us, and he wnated to grab us and experiment on us and maybe steal our powers. We'd been travelling across the country, just doing our best to stay one step ahead of him.

For much of the dream we were in a bus/subway station (Downsview, to be exact, for those who know Toronto). Or, at least, I was. Somehow, as I was heading down into the subway, I realized that the girlfriend wasn't there, and I realized she caught the bus after me (dream logic, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain), and also realized that the alien bounty hunter was shadowing me. He wouldn't do anything in public, or maybe he wanted to wait until both of us were together, but he was following me to the subway.

I got on the subway, and so did ALIEN BOUNTY HUNTER. But I was clever. Right before the doors closed, I darted out, not giving him time to follow me, so he was off our tail for a little while anyway. I ran up to where the busses were, hoping the girlfriend would arrive before he managed to get to the next stop and catch a ride back. I also had the idea that if we could lure him into following us onto a plane, and then the girlfriend phased us off the plane with her powers just before it took off, we could be rid of him for a much longer period.

Anyway, luckily, the girlfriend (it was entirely a dream girlfriend, but not in a good sense of the word, I can't remember much about her personally, I doubt she was any real person, just an amalgam of various girls I've crushed on over the years) showed up, and I grabbed her hand and walked with her towards the subway.

She had a huge thing of spicy buffalo chicken, which she wanted me to have (she'd already had hers) and I had some and it was good (and I could actually taste it,and it did taste like spicy chicken, although perhaps not technically like buffalo chicken). I had some and threw the rest out because we had to travel light. Then I thought better of it and realized we should have some food for the trip, but didn't want to go into the garbage. There was some loose sandwich meat on sale by the subway vendors (again, dream logic), so I grabbed some handfuls of proscuitto and sliced turkey and put it somewhere in our bag (they were wrapped), and we ran off without paying cause we didn't have the money. We got to the subway platform and the bounty hunter didn't seem to be back yet, and then two trains showed up at the same time, one was a normal style subway train and the other was some kind of super-new train that I figured would leave first for some reason, so we went for that one. It was strange, with all the seats facing the same direction, sort of like a plane (or some kinds of trains), and very little standing space.

Anyway, here's where I woke up. Shortly after that, presumably while thinking of the dream, I feel asleep again and was back in pretty much the same situation. Except this time I was on a bus alone and was meeting the girlfriend at a pre-arranged location. Except two bank robbers boarded the bus and hijacked it, ordering the driver to take them home. Which was a pretty dumb thing to do, really. One of the bank robbers looked just like Weevil from Veronica Mars. But I didn't want to use my powers in public, so I went along for the ride and realized that they were going to kill us all after they got to their home. As soon as they pulled up, I talked to the Weevil robber and explained, 'Look, we all know exactly where you live. So you're probably going to have to kill us. But if you do that, you're also going to have to kill all the pedestrians on the street who witnessed it. And hell, since you've killed so many people, you gotta figure at least some of your family and friends aren't going to be okay with that and will turn you in, so you're going to have to kill them too, just to be safe. And even then you'll be the most wanted people ever. So I've got another solution. You guys just run away. Sure, it sucks, but you're only on the hook for Bank Robbery so the cops won't be on you too much, and let's face it, cops are stupid, so you'll probably be able to get away pretty easily (I should stop here and say that this does not reflect my actual opinion of cops, I was trying to persuade him by appealing to what I figured his own opinion was). Sure, stealing the bus was a stupid mistake, but hey, who hasn't made really dumb mistakes. Just the other day I tried to run for a closing subway door and got caught in the middle."

Anyway, they seemed to realize it'd be dumb to kill all of us, but I woke up about here anyway.

I'm guessing the seed for the third dream was because I was thinking of Power Pack in connection to the power set we had in the previous dream. In this dream, my brother (or some reasonable approximation who didn't particularly act like my brother but had that 'role' in the dream anyway) and I were auditioning for a movie. Specifically, Power Pack the movie. Now, we weren't auditioning for the kids, which wouldn't have worked, but we figured we could get roles as extras or minor characters or something. Only we went to the auditions and you had to sign up for what you were auditioning for and it turned out all they were auditioning for that day was the kids. So though I thought I could _possibly_ pull off Alex age-wise since I look much younger than I am, I'd have to dye my hair and probably still wouldn't look the part (although not being a child actor they might be more interested in me since there wouldn't be labour laws), I didn't want to audition for such a big role and my brother and I left. We told the guy who was running the auditions (Mark Daley from CityTV, the 'voice' of CityTV who makes all those snarky voiceover comments about bad movies while credits roll) we were leaving, and he noticed my brother's guitar (dream logic again, my brother doesn't have a guitar or play it to my knowledge) and said something about jamming together sometime and auctioning the guitars off to charity, which we thought was a bit silly and unlikely, but whatever.

We decided we'd just go with plan B, which was to get our union card so we could audition for other stuff (apparently the PP audition, presumably because they were just casting the kids, was more of an 'open call', and, in dream logic, for anything else you needed a union card. My brother and I had a brief conversation that went like this:
Brother: "Did you bring a newspaper clipping?" (which apparently we needed or were going to audition a dramatic reading or something, I dunno).
Me: "No."
Brother: "When?"
Me: "What? That doesn't even make sense as a response?"
Brother: "Huh?"
Me: "I said 'No', and you said 'When'. When what?"

We were interrupted in this strange conversation as a cleaning person walked by, and we started moving to somewhere else.

We saw a pretty girl sitting on a couch. She was had blonde hair (which normally I'm mehish on) which was sorta shortish and 'up' (similarly mehish), but had a sort of pixie-faced quality (which I do sorta dig), but somehow she was very pretty. Anyway, we both sat down on either side of her and sort of introduced ourselves (not like me at all), and she said something about not shaking hands with her left hand as a general policy (which I don't understand, most people don't, right?), and offered her right hand to each of us to shake. Then she started talking, and she talked really fast and I had trouble following it except to understand that she was here for a friend's wedding or something.

Then she seemed to get nervous and realize she was rambling and asked if she mentioned something about being pro-human rights, and I said that to be honest I'm not sure because she talked very fast, but it's possible it was in there. She talked a little more, and sort of deliberately slowed down, and started leaning forward towards me. I don't remember what she said, but I have a vivid memory of her face coming close-ish enough that I noticed little freckles on her nose. After she said what she had to (which was vaguely positive, even if I can't remember what it was), she just completely disappeared. Vanished, into thin air. And both of us sort of reacted like that was an everyday thing and nothing unusual. My brother said we should probably get going. But in the dream, I was in love. Even though I knew there was a good chance I'd never see her again, I was in love, and I just wanted a minute to savor the experience (and perhaps in the faint hope she might just reappear).

Someone else who was there for the same friend's wedding came in through the front door, and I briefly considered trying to go to the wedding/reception/whatever it was just in the hopes of seeing her again, but then I woke up with that sense of loss at being back in stupid reality.

(Oh, and I never said the dreams made more SENSE than reality, just that they were more satisfying. If I had dreams like these all the time, I'd probably sleep a lot more.)

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving. Going to do family stuff later today.
