Dream Foo first, heavily TV inspired.
(I'm actually typing up these dreams usually as I have them, and inserting date references after the fact, so I can post them in a bundle rather than spam flists with dreams).

One dream, a week or so ago, had me in Heroes. I guess I was in place of the Peter character, except I'd decided to just screw all the waiting and go save the Cheerleader now. I found her just as Sylar was about to try to kill her. Sylar was played by the same guy who played Holland Manners in Angel. Can't remember how the fight turned out though.

Then this dream a couple nights back. Okay, basically it started with SG1 (with Jack O'Neill) gating into the basement of a house. Teal'C went up to investigate, but he found he was seriously allergic to the flowers the house owner kept, and collapsed.

Later, Jack went up to find Teal'C but was caught by the house owner who thought he was a burglar. He tried to explain that he'd used a stargate in her basement which leads to a whole bunch of adifferent worlds. She didn't believe him, and was going to call the police, so he decided he'd just show her.

He went down and moved things out away from in front of the gate (Where they'd be caught by the Kawoosh and destroyed) then used the DHD to dial Earth. Or he tried to, anyway. See, Daniel always did the dialing home, and he wasn't there so Jack couldn't remember the exact sequence. And kept getting sequences that didn't open the gate. So the homeowner thoguht he was lying.

While he was trying to prove it, someone came and took the stargate away, but he didnt notice until the argument was over. Then he ran outside and saw the Stargate strapped to the top of a truck, speeding away. But he finally figured out a way to auto-dial Earth from a gadget he had on him. He figured that if he did it while the thing was on the truck, if the gate happened to be facing down instead of up, the Kawoosh would eat through the truck and he could catch up to it. He tried it, but it didn't work.

Anyway, at this point it jumped to another scene where George from Grey's Anatomy was explaining what it was like to be a fictional character in the real world. I guess this world they gated to was the real world somehow and fictional characters had started popping up in it, I dunno. Anyway, George made some comments and said something about not really being all adventure seeking like people assume, because he's been shot at twice and really didn't care for it.

Anyway, the GA crew went out for lunch outside, and they saw Jack from Stargate speeding by in a car trying to catch the truck. They flagged him down, recognizing him as fictional (althouh they disagreed which show he was on... some thought he was from Stargate, some from Star Trek, and some from Wormhole X-Treme!) and had a short conversation with him about the possible whereabouts of Teal'C, at which point I woke up.

Last night I had a dream that there was some sort of plague that killed off most people and I was wandering around... YES.... A POST APOCALYPTIC WASTELAND. I've always said it was my dream to be a noble drifter in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and yesterday it was literally my dream.

Anyway, the details became a little fuzzy after waking up. Somehow, we'd found a cute little dog. And we were looking through grocery stores trying to find dog food. Except there were a few survivors camped out in grocery stores who didn't want us taking their food. So after trying to convince them it was just for the dog, we left and started looking for a pet store.

Then something happened and cops started coming towards us, except they were all wearing kilts, and I was thinking it was sorta like Dies the Fire where, after something happens where most people die, people will turn to old ways just because they happen to keep alive while doing them. So now in this town or whatever all the cops wore kilts and had swords. That's about all I can remember.

Writing update: Okay, so now I'm at just shy of 20k words. I have completed 3 short stories. Although one of them is one of those 'exactly 100 words' ones, just for fun because the style crossed my mind while I was trying to fall asleep and then I had the story bloom in my head, ending included. From there, it was just a matter of typing it out and editing as required to make it exactly 100, insteadly of the 118 or so it was when I just typed it from my head. The story was SFish, of course, and apocalyptic in its way, hopeful in another.

Anyway, working on another story, an older idea, involving the old multiple universe theory, although with a bit of a twist that I think is relatively unique (at least, I've never heard of it before, so I can write it in good conscience without feeling like I'm stealing it). However, I'm a bit iffier on the story structure and it requires more research than I feel I can really do during PerExWriMo, so I might just have to block it out fairly roughly and then go back to correct it later.

So far I've met all of my goals for the month, although I expect that to falter soon as more of my writing time might be wrapped up in the search for a new apartment.

In other news, will be seeing my mom for dinner tomorrow night. Will probably miss VM, but that's what VCRs are for (yes, I still have one of those).

Speaking of TV.... hmmm, nothing actually really stands out this week one way or the other that I feel I need to talk about.

Finally, speaking of it on that meme, my X-Mas Wishlist

I kinda feel a bit... I dunno, guilty about doing this, because I don't really have the means (whether financial, skillfull, or... psychological, in some cases) to grant other people's wishes for the most part. But on the other hand, I'm not really expecting any of these to be granted.

Rules as posted by [livejournal.com profile] jaxie926...

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf-to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

-

Also go surf around Spread The Cheer to see other people's wishlists, even a stranger's, and try to make their wish come true, or link your own to here.

Mine:
I'll start with my four traditional wishes.

1. The traditional impossible-to-grant 'life wishes' of love or wealth or all that.
2. The traditional impossible-to-grant 'impossible wishes', like super powers, or magic, or being transported to another universe.
3. The traditional 'shilling wish' - a request that if anyone is doing any shopping through amazon.com this year, and they don't already have a friend who's an affiliate, to go to my site and search or what you want through the amazon searchbox there (even if you've already found it through another means, when you go to buy, search for it through my searchbox then buy it that way). That way, I make a tiny amount of money from your purchases, and it doesn't cost you anything extra.
4. The traditional 'spread the goodwill'. Do something nice for someone else that you wouldn't normally do - for someone you don't particularly like, maybe. Even if it's just a small favour, or forgiving them of something, even (especially) if they don't deserve it. Go that extra mile. and think of me while doing it.

The rest are the easier to grant ones, but again, I still honestly don't expect any of them. Hell, I refuse to even give out my address for any of the physical item ones.

They're just things I want and would eventually get for myself, but probably not for quite a while:
5. I wouldn't say no to some paid LJ time so I can actually use some of the icons I make.
6. Books. SF, in particular, and to get even more particular... hmm... well, there's Rainbow's End, by Vernor Vinge. But I'll probably wait for the paperback version. Any of the Hugo or Nebula winning books I haven't read (which include Cyteen, A Time of Changes, They'd Rather Be Right (even if it is the worst hugo winning novel in history).
7. I want to find a good MUSH to play at, statless and trait-based. Ideally either Firefly verse based (but with no canon characters) or Marvel universe/X book based. Preferably not Year One, alternate continuity, or crossover games for the Marvel ones, but I'll consider it. Low levels of idiots that ruin games regularly, and ideally just starting out so I don't feel a perpetual newbie.
8. Stargate SG1, Buffy, or Angel DVD boxed sets (any season except SG1 season 1, as I don't have any of them yet)
9. I could probably also use a new DVD player while I'm at it.
10. A gyro. Mmmmmm, gyros.

Oh, and if anyone does know anyone, even if it's a friend of a friend, that you think I might have some ability to help, feel free to let me know. I imagine the two big things I might be able to contribute are:
1) I make icons. I'm not great at it, and I tend to be good only on particular styles of it and only if it's something I already care about. Which means probably mostly comic ones, with maybe a few other ones. But if you know somebody who wants a particular thing iconed, I'm open to helping. You can see my icons here and here to give you an idea of my skills and fandoms)
2) I tend to be good at finding things online. It's a minor skill, but sometimes I'll see someone is looking for something and I'll be able to find it.
