And some Book Foo.

Finished: The Stainless Steel Rat by Harry Harrison
Started: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling.

Thoughts on the finished book behind the cut. No real spoilers.

SSR wasn't bad, I enjoyed the character but the storyline was a little light and simplistic for my tastes. I might read another book in the series but I'm not all keen to go seek it out either. Some moderate amusement from the low level of technology in the projected future (there are still punchcard-run computer systems all over the place), but that's common with SF from the age (It was written in 1961).

Quote:
"Customs was a snap and when the ship was about half full I boarded her and took a seat near the hostess. I flirted with her until she walked away, having classified me in the category of MALE, BRASH, ANNOYING. An old girl who had the seat next to mine also had me filed int he same drawer and was looking out of the window with obvious ice on her shoulder. I dozed off happily since there is one thing better than not being noticed and that is being noticed and filed into a category. Your description gets mixed up with every other guy in the file and that is the end of it."

Of course, still reading Olympos by Dan Simmons on Fridays and Sundays.
