So, I've had a number of lucid or semi-lucid dreams over the last little while. Lately, though, instead of flying (though I do some of that too), I've been practicing something else... summoning fictional characters. And I've actually had some success.
The big one was Runaways. I've actually done this twice. Once I just sort of passed by them while I was walking. I think this time it was mostly Vol 2's cast, but no Xavin or Old Lace. Not entirely sure if everyone was there, but I saw most of them briefly I think. Not sure on Karolina either - I have a specific memory of almost everyone else, but none of her. Maybe she and Xavin were in space.
Second time was more recently. The dream started in my apartment (my old one, actually), and I knew I was dreaming almost right away so I went downstairs and opened the door and tried to summon up somebody. For some reason (I don't always have full memory when lucid, so it's possible I didn't recall I'd already done them), I chose the Runaways, and managed to get them to appear. Except, this time, they didn't look at all like comic characters. They looked like real people who LOOKED (somewhat) like the comic characters. A few of them looked like my 'Runaways casting icon' (Alex did, and Molly to some extent), but the others looked more like average people of their age, race, and general description (which is good because often that info gets really screwed up in dreams). Also, it was Volume 1's cast. There was Alex, Gert, Chase, and Molly at first. Old Lace was absent again, I guess my subconscious doesn't like dinosaurs. :(. They were 'on the run' for something, so I invited them upstairs to hide out. Molly didn't have a hat so I magicked one up for her (it was a hippo hat). Some of it vagued out over there, I think I talked to them a bit but I can't recall exactly about what.
After that I went outside and tried more magicking. There were people about. I tried for Power Pack as a group, but only got Alex.
Anyway, one of the methods I use for summoning people or changing people into other people is the "I'm not looking" principle of lucid dream control. For me, the most reliable way to make a change is to look away, concentrate on what I want, and then look back to 'see' that it's suddenly changed towards what I want. Not all the way, but somewhat. As I was walking, I decided to try something different. There were occasional random people on the scene, so I thought maybe if I decided that one of them was a shapeshifter, I could just make them appear while I was watching. I chose Mystique, because, well, she's the most famous shapeshifter. So I went up to a woman and declared, "Hey, you're really Mystique!". And sure enough, she started to turn blue and look like Mystique - a more cartoony/comic-booky one, rather than a realistic one.
At about this time I realized I still hadn't seen Karolina, and I kinda wanted to see what she'd look like in her powered form. So, I tried to call her down from the sky.
Didn't quite get it right. Oh, there was light, all right. But it was super bright. So much that I could see her clothes and some of her hair, but everything else was just 'light' and I couldn't make out any facial features... and not even particularly colored light, either, just bright white light. It was in fact so bright it started to wake me up. Didn't manage to get back into the dream. Ah well, maybe I'll try again with her, and with Old Lace, just to get the whole set to have appeared. (Oh, sure, I'll probably have to try Xavin too).
Yes, I realize this amuses only me. But, haha, amusement for me!
