They've announced the new creative team for Runaways, after Whedon leaves. It's going to be Terry Moore and Humberto Ramos. Not entirely sure how to feel.

On the writing side, I don't think anything would have been 'OOH, COOL!' for me other than BKV returning, which was unlikely. Even those writers I do like, none of them that were possible really felt particularly like a match for Runaways. So mostly it was a matter of avoiding choices I didn't like, everything else I'd wait and see.

Never read anything by Terry Moore, who's most famous for 'Strangers in Paradise'. I'll certainly give him a chance, although some of the comments he makes about some of the characters in an interview gives me pause. Particularly his whole concept of Nico, and some of his thoughts on Victor and Chase.

Less pleased about Humberto Ramos. He did the art of the new story in "Runaways Saga", the 'catch up on the whole series in one dose' thing Marvel did. I was okay with his art there, but I really didn't want to see him on the title long term, and it looks like that's what's happening. Meh. I like Runaways to have a less cartoony look. Ultra-cartoony turns me off. Oh well, artists tend to move around a lot anyway, so maybe it'll only be for an arc.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

In non-fandom news, I got a little surprise yesterday when I opened my paycheck. It seems I got about $150 more than I was expecting. That's about $200 when you add in the fact that this was for the period that I missed a day, and I wasn't expecting to get paid for it. I understand what went into it, I think, but it wasn't something I was expecting, at least not to that degree - I thought at most any extra money I might have gotten would have smoothed over the lost day. So yeah, that is a nice pleasant surprise. As is my tendency, I'm sharing the wealth some by treating my roomies to take out for dinner tommorrow, although we're not sure what we're getting yet.

I wish I could say I'll keep reading after Joss' run is done, but it doesn't seem likely. Runaways is an awesome comic, but I'm not sure I want to read it when someone other than Joss or Brain K Vaughn is writing. I mean, I've never read anything by Terry Moore so I shouldn't judge, but it seems like teenagers with powers is not his specality.

And yay for extra money. That's always nice when you get a paycheque and there's more than usual. :-D

I've never read anything by him either, but what I understand is he's famous for character-centered stories, which is more important. The 'powers' aspect is probably easy to pick up. And though I'd love BKV to return, I also do kinda dig that, unlike a lot of newer comic characters, these ones have a life outside of the original creators. BKV said that he created Runaways as his gift to the Marvel Universe, and I like that attitude, so I'm willing to stick with them after him.. at least until the book starts to suck. :)

Hey, as you know dude, I LOVE Runaways, but I have been kinda half-dreading who would come after Whedon. But...just this year, I have started reading the "Strangers in Paradise" books! They are REALLY good! I have almost finished the first pocket volume, and I have the next 4. Excellent stuff. Suffice to say I am very pleased he has been given this opportunity.

YAY for extra money, too! :-) Don't spend it all at once! hehe.
