newnumber6: Ghostly being (Default)

So, went for New Comic day, also bought by brother his birthday present (it's tomorrow). I bought:
Gotham Central #14 (Pretty good), Marvel 1602 #5 (Good, just wish it'd move a little more quickly), NYX #3 (Not quite as good as the past few issues, though some good parts... except I'm a little worried/annoyed about the new character. There's also some XET relevance there, though. ;)), Ultimate X-Men #40 (Good, single issue story pretty much), Uncanny X-men #434 (Bleh), Wanted #1 (Okay, but disappointing), X-Treme X-Men #36 (Ehhh. Not bad I suppose, but this is a story that was originally intended for a Storm miniseries/GN and just shoved into X-Treme instead. And (sorry [livejournal.com profile] goddesscomplex) Storm's never been one of my favorite characters in the comics, at least on her own. Especially with Claremont's love affair there).

Also, Book Foo...
Finished: The Best of Fritz Leiber
Started: The Light of Other Days, by Arthur C. Clarke and Stephen Baxter.
Most of the short stories were just okay, but there were a few that were quite nice for various reasons. One in particular was nice if you like cats. All had a good deal of strangeness to them, which I like to somedegree, but occasionally it was too much.
TLoOD is a story about a company that invents a wormhole camera, which pretty much means the end of personal privacy as anyone could create a Wormcam to watch anyone else in the world and spy on them, without any way to know. I'm up to the point where they've invented it, pretty well. It's okay, some of the characters are a little flat so far, but there are some interesting scientific ideas.
I may finish it tomorrow on the way to and from my exam, and if I do that'll probably be my last Book Foo of 2003, since I tend to only read on the bus to and from school (and occasionally comics, but the trip's very short there).
