Not sure on the HD, but Rover's immune to bludgeoning attacks, and has a special 'smothering' attack that renders targets unconscious! It is dispatched against people attempting to escape, or against people being unmutual. Generally people stop when it comes by for fear that it will turn on them, but it can be trained to ignore people based on a code word! Although it normally doesn't kill, it has been known to on occasion. No. Appearing = 1-3, with any more than one being smaller, immature.
When appearing in a cartoon, it can be destroyed by a sharp pin, though, I'm sure it's more resilient elsewhere. THAC0's probably 7 or thereabouts!
