This week I bought:
Birds of Prey #63 (good)
Daredevil #56 (enjoyable, but I get annoyed at how Daredevil's probably out of continuity now, on account of stuff that happens here)
Exiles #41 (Actually the best issue of Exiles in quite a while, a solo story about Nocture, written by her creator. Great peek at a 'gimmick-less' alternate history)
New X-Men #152 (Okay, but not even all that impressive as an alternate future)
Outsiders #8 (Pretty good)
Robin #122 (An improvement over the lackluster first issue I read last time)
Runaways #10 (A disappointment for the title, still better than a lot of books though)
Uncanny X-Men #438 (not bad, but we _get_ that it's a Shakespeare take off already, thanks, you don't need to hammer the point home)
The Unfunnies #1 (Ehh. Being a MU*er depraved stuff happening with classic cartoon/comic heros (or in this case, take offs of hanna-barbara style comics) can't _shock_ me anymore, but it doesn't really entertain me. The high concept is interesting, the execution isn't all that great. If you like cartoon characters murdering each other or forced into prostitution, you might like it)

Also had a gyro.. (mmm, gyro).
Oh, and a little bit of comic news. Marvel's announced that X-Treme X-Men will indeed end in April. It will be replaced, in May, with a new Exaclibur series by Claremont. I expect some character crossover, but no specific word on them has been announced.

I look forward to the first issue of X-treme X-calibur. I'm sure it will be X-cellent. As long as Claremont can stop doing that with his spelling.

Heh...

Although the title 'X-Treme X-Men' was Marvel's choice, not Claremont's. He's said a couple times that he originally wanted it to be called MaXimum X-Men, but Marvel wanted something hipper. ;)

So what was his excuse for Mekanix? ;)

A bottle of whiskey, and back to back videos of Coyote Ugly, The Terminator, and Girls Gone Wild.

Oh, the name? Probably the whole 'every X-book has to have the letter X in it, if at all possible. ;)

For Kitty, of course!

Plus, Mechanix would look rather silly! ;)

Sillier than Mekanix, say? ;)

Just read Daredevil this morning before work, and loved it. And, while I expect the big ol' reset button somewhere down the line (probably the instant Bendis leaves the book), for such is the way of superhero comics, I don't see any reason this *has* to be out of continuity.

Out of continuity...

Because the story of what happens is told by Ben Urich, and includes a tale of Peter Parker as a member of a group of superheroes who confront Daredevil about what happened.

In other words, not only does Ben Urich know Parker's identity (more or less, anyway), but so do a number of the reliable sources who said it happened that way.

Now, I suppose you could argue that he didn't have to be telling the story that it looked like it was telling.. "(Ie, he was just saying 'let me tell you a story..' and while off panel he goes on about how he liked asparagus as a child, while on panel we move to some other dramatic events he has no knowledge of), but I don't think reading that into it is really the point.

I always thought Ben did know who Spidey was? Or am I way off on this?

I've never heard that, although admittedly I'm not an expert on Spidey. If it is, I'll mostly retract (although there's still the problem of who he's telling the story to, and who assembled the information that it happened, all knowing).

I'm reasonably sure he knew about Daredevil before he was exposed, but never heard about him knowing Spidey.

Yeah, Ben knew who Daredevil was. I'm not sure if he knew about Spidey or not, though it wouldn't surprise me that greatly. (And he'd certainly know, or at least be able to find out, that Matt and Peter were friends.)

I dunno. I suppose I'm just not terribly bothered by questions of continuity in general. :)

Ben knew the identity of the Green Goblin/Normon Osbourne certainly and since his son was also a goblin for a time I believe I suspect Ben does know Pete's identity, but I'm not totally sure on that. I seem to remember one comic where Ben mentioned it to Peter but I'd have to check backissues.
