So, yeah, tanked the test I had today. 3 questions, 3 marks each. 2nd one I probably got totally. 3rd one I'm really not sure. I might have, might not. It relies more on if I understood the question.
I saved the 1st for last because I knew I didn't know it. It was based on a diagram I couldn't process as is, and we were expected to extend and modify it for a much more complicated case, and explain the diagram. There was no way I could draw the diagram, so I just did some piddly obviously wrong thing and decided to do the best I could to explain the general principles behind itin the hopes of part marks.
Then my pen died on me. I only had one pen out at the time... though there might have been another working one in my bag I would have had to search through dozens of other dead ones, and even then no guarantee. So, I though about asking to look, or ask to borrow a pen, either of which would draw attention to myself, and I realized I couldn't do it If I did it, I still probably wouldn't have got too far on it. So, I just left it.
Ah well, at least I did well enough on the first two that I can soak a bad mark. If I assume I only got 5/15, then I get somewhere between 75-80% average for all three tests.
Still, disappointing.

The other minor disappointment? I remembered that if I'm really going to appreciate my Firefly DVD, I'm going to have to get a new TV (though I suppose I could use the one upstairs if nobody is watching it). When my normal TV died I switched to a really old one and managed to get it working. It was a little small, but it worked. The problem? There's no place on the TV to plug in the DVD player. The only other option is to plug it into the VCR, and run it through there.
Except, when you do that, their copy protection kicks in, so you can't just tape a DVD on a blank tape. So, what they do is they make the screen dark and color a bit off, with both brightness and color changing off and on. But in general (especially on my TV which is at times too dark for me during night scenes on a lot of shows). So yeah, I couldn't really watch it.
However, I could still play it. So, although I really couldn't see what was happening very easily, I turned on the commentary track for the first episode and watched that, with Joss Whedon and star Nathan Fillion talking about it. Funny, funny stuff. 'Does this cryogenic chamber make me look fat?'. Plus a lot of the mechanics of movie-making and doing things like making changes to the script on the fly based on actors chemistries, etc. Pretty interesting. Almost makes me wish I could get into movies.

Oh, and I napped for like 2 and a half hours. Oops.
