New Comic Day! + Creepy Subway Stories
Jun. 1st, 2005 04:02 pmSmall week this time around. 3 books.
Exiles #65 (not bad, not great, but fairly enjoyable)
House of M #1 (kind of a big problem with the premise, and not a whole lot happens in this one issue, but it's fairly enjoyable)
Uncanny X-Men #459 (Claremont plays 'Continuity Catchup' again, and as an issue focusing strongly on the X-Men's family aspect, it's actually the best book of the week, IMHO).
Full reviews for anyone interested at http://www.unreachablestar.net (along with my summary of the upcoming Summer and Fall TV season in SF-related shows).
On the way to work I had a Creepy Subway Story encounter!
Okay, I was at a changeover spot and heading down the stairs to the other subway. I passed this guy and it looked like he was looking right at me, and I got a weird feeling. I passed him and didn't really think of it, but then he was walking down the platform towards me and stopped a bit in front of me, and he was doing a sort of 'looking all around while waiting for the subway to arrive' type thing and in the process looking in my direction a fair bit. Now, I didn't think too much about it either, just noticed.
It was a semi-active subway platform I should point out - it's not like I was the only one there, or I would have been a lot more suspicious.
Subway comes up, and I just get the feeling that he's waiting for me to get on to make sure he gets on the same train as me.
I get on, as does he, and I find an empty seat.
There's an empty seat right beside me.
There's also _two_ empty seats right across from me, and a couple others elsewhere in the train.
So where does creepy subway guy sit? Right beside me. He didn't say anything, and he was on my blind side so I couldn't really see if he was looking at me or what, but it was kinda freaking me out by this point.
So as my stop approached, I made a decision - normally when my stop's coming I get up and head to the door and get off as soon as the door opens. This time, I just sat there, not moving, until the train had stopped, and the doors had been open for a few seconds, then I got up suddenly and headed out, so if he _was_ following me I'd know it, because he would have gotten up too. Once I got out, I looked back. He wasn't following me (and good thing too, I didn't think I'd have the energy to dispose of a body _and_ work), but he was looking back at me through the window. WTF?
Anyway, on the off chance I die in the next couple weeks or something, I'll describe him here so in death I can at least be a human-interest news story for having caught my killer via blog. He was taller than me by maybe a few inches (I'm horrible at judging that), about my age or maybe a little older, short black hair, balding very slightly (but with hair at the middle of his head, just on the sides of the middle going back), darkish complexion - olive, maybe is what they call it. He wore a reddish shirt with a pattern on it... I wanna say hawaiian, but I really didn't get that good a look at it or remember. I just remember the overall impression being red, with bits of white.
