Big Damn Lost Dream
Nov. 21st, 2005 10:12 amI don't know where the hell it came from, but last night I dreamed I was watching a whole episode of Lost: Here's what happened...
First, this actually was a dream about watching it, rather than just a dream about LOST - in the dream at several points I looked at the clock (and for some bizarre reason the episode was playing at like 6am), and was recording it because I didn't think other people I knew who watched Lost would have known about it.
Anyway, the episode started something like a year or two after everyone had gotten OFF the island, or so it seemed, anyway. Much of the first part of it was catching up with where people were now. Dawn (from Buffy, I know she wasn't in Lost but tell my subconscious that) was becoming famous because she'd just finished writing a book that was a fictionalized account of their experiences on the island. Other people were doing various stuff. Kate was somehow not in jail and was investigating things because she didn't think things were quite right (I don't remember if she started out doing this, or if something triggered her doing this... I know there was something involving the letter L having a weird symbol over it all over the place, especially when Jack wrote it). Anyway, she went to see Hurley... who had to be played by a different actor because he was skinny now (he also had a Sayid style beard), but he was just like Hurley what with calling her dude and everything. He didn't believe her that something was wrong.
Anyway, the official story was that they were rescued shortly after they were kidnapped by The Others, but Kate discovered that people's stories of exactly what happened weren't matching up. This was all made crystal clear when one of the survivors said something like, "Don't worry Kate, we didn't tell anybody your secrets." And another said, "Yeah, we're still the only ones who know you're actually an alien..." And the first guy looked at him like, WTF? And came up with another secret that she apparently told them but was total BS. Somewhere in this the idea of virtual reality was introduced, and Kate became convinced they never left the island, they were kidnapped by the Others and now they're all in a virtual reality.
But that's all I remember of the dream. Maybe it was a To Be Continued.
(Incidentally, while I was watching it, in the dream, I remember thinking 'You know, if ever was a Jump the Shark moment for the show, it would probably be the use of the 'Look, we're all off the island! No we're not!' plot)
