And bah dropped keyboards, too. Had a whole (well, half or quarter) post typed but dropped the keyboard and it deleted on me. Anyway...

So today I learned that Rogers discontinued its USENET services a few days ago. Normally I do USENET through my university account, but I also received an e-mail today saying that my last university account was expiring in early January. Bah on that, too. Anyway, I went to go check on my backup, only to find out it didn't work, and from looking around discovered the reason. Bah. Bah indeed. That just sucks. Okay, it's not a tremendous inconvenience - there are free news hosts out there (don't typically offer binaries groups, but then I very rarely use them anyway, mostly do the text groups) and I've already setup one. But it's the principle of the thing - offering less services and no less cost. And then there's the way they went about it and some other stuff I've heard they're doing. Bah. Sadly there's no real alternative for us, so it's not like we can switch over it, but it's a pain and annoying.

Anyway, on to other stuff. Since nothing else's been on TV last couple nights I've been watching this Deal or No Deal show. Interesting for a couple days, but I can't imagine watching it if it extended into a full series like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire did. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it almost always pays to take a Deal at some point - I think it's a simple variation of the Monty Haul problem (where if you choose a door, and there are two doors left, and the host reveals one of the doors has a goat behind it and you can choose whether to switch to the other door or not, although it _seems_ like the chance is equal either way, you actually have twice as much chance if you switch... it was featured on Numb3rs once). Where once you get down to 2 cases, the chance is much higher than you have the lowest value, so you're better off taking the deal. Maybe not though, there are odd cul-de-sacs in my logic that I'm not entirely sure about. Anyone more knowledgable than me in maths/logic want to chime in?

Also, I have pie. Mmmm, lemon mereinguieasiguhe
