Dream Foo: Too Cool For School Edition
Jan. 18th, 2006 09:13 amDream last night. Odd not so much in the subject matter but in the role _I_ was in it.
Dream started back in high school. In the dream, I was the 'new kid', and was in my first class and took an empty seat. Then someone came in who was late and although they didn't say anything, I could tell by the looks they and the person sitting beside me were giving that they were best friends and usually sat together, except I was in her seat, but they were both too polite to ask me to get out of it. So I offered, and we switched. Not terribly interesting. Next part of the dream I remember though, I was walking through the hall with some friends and passed by some people who I guess (from the context of what came later) were the 'popular' people, and we exchanged friendly greetings, although the friends I were with barely got noticed. I don't remember exactly how it happened, but the friends asked me for tips on how to become popular like I had.
Yeah. See what I mean about it being odd mainly for the role I played in the dream? (While I think I successfully avoided getting a negative label in high school and was on reasonably friendly terms with lots of people, I never was 'popular', mostly I was just 'there' (when I was. When I wasn't there, I wasn't). ) Anyway, I don't remember all of it, but I remember going through a series of mini-scenes me giving my top 5 tips for being popular vs. being a geek. I can't remember all of them, but I think the last 3 were:
3) Pocket protectors are completely useless. (I've never wore one IRL, nor even seen someone with one in school, but it's the stereotypical 'geek' thing in TV high schools).
4) Find your niche, and focus on being good at that.
5) It doesn't hurt if you somehow manage to save the entire school from death.
Yeah. I assume that's how I became popular, although I can't recall exactly how, unfortunately. ;)
Also had a dream (or dreams) related to a story idea I've had in my head for a year or two, but because it's my habit not to talk much about my ideas while I'm still working on it, I can't really describe it. The details are sort of fading into memory anyway.
