First, since it's been over a week and nobody's likely to guess any more of these, the answers to the quotes meme I did a while back:

1. "Go then, there are other worlds than these." [livejournal.com profile] woot - Jake, The Dark Tower series, by Stephen King
2. "I saw my parents kill a girl, and then I found a dinosaur in my
basement. I haven't slept in four days."
[livejournal.com profile] lyssachan - Gert Yorkes, Runaways comic
Open Bonus Question: Which issue? Issue #9 of Volume #1 (nobody got the bonus question, probably cause no one cared to look it up. ;))
3. I say we take off, and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only
way to be sure."
[livejournal.com profile] angelophile with the full guess, [livejournal.com profile] tadiera with a partial - Ripley, Aliens
4. "She understands. She doesn't comprehend." [livejournal.com profile] lyssachan - River Tam, Firefly, "Objects in Space"
5. "Fear is the mind-killer." [livejournal.com profile] tadiera - Dune
Open Bonus Question: What is the name of the speech it's from, and what character first uses it? (It's from The Litany Against Fear, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] tadiera, and first used by Paul Atredis).
6. "Key phrases: Hexapodia as the key insight" Nobody guessed this one. It's from the book "A Fire Upon the Deep", by Vernor Vinge, and is a message in the galactic 'Net', from an alien or group of aliens known as 'Twirlip of the mists'. I figured someone would guess this one if only because I used the phrase as a 'tag' in my entries that talked about it, since I'm reading it now. :)
7. "Being blowed up isn't walking around and drinking with your buddies dead. It's little bits being swept up by a janitor dead, and I don't think you're ready for that." [livejournal.com profile] angelophile - Xander, from Buffy The Vampire Slayer (tv series), The Zeppo
8. "Remember, the enemy's gate is down." [livejournal.com profile] anomilygrace - Ender Wiggin (among other characters), Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card
9. "Questions are a burden to others, answers a prison for oneself." [livejournal.com profile] angelophile - Sign in The Prisoner tv series
10. "Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows." [livejournal.com profile] anomilygrace - Nineteen Eighty-Four, by George Orwell
Open Bonus Question: Which character? It's from the Diary of Winston Smith.

Now, Dream Foo! Dark Tower Related... sorta, but there are no big spoilers behind the cut because only the characters and the faintest resemblance to the plot carry over.

Okay, well, in the dream, instead of (or perhaps after, not quite sure on the time line) going for the Dark Tower, the group found a way to go backward in time... in keystone time... and so they set a course for a White Tower that only existed at the dawn of time, before Mid-World fell. To get there, they had to ride a subway train, and specifically ride it past the last stop, where they say 'the train is now going out of service, please leave the train'.

There's a jump I don't remember, the next thing I remember was that they were in the White Tower, which was like some little bottled utopia full of its own society. However, the hallway immediately through the front door of the White Tower looked exactly like the area right around the back door of my work. Anyway, the Crimson King was trying to get in, and somehow did get in and Roland could only keep him from going into the inner area of the Tower by being there to stop him. They struggled for a while and agreeing that only one of them could get through, so agreed to a deal... they'd both walk out of the Tower and take a 6-pack of Cola (President's Choice brand, for some reason) and their guns. They'd each take a shot at each other, and then, if both were still standing, drink a can of cola before the next shot. Whoever survived could go back into the Tower.

Just before the competition, Jake and Eddie came up to Gunslinger and told him that some kind of monster was loose within the tower, it broke out of the freezer, and they had to go track it down, and he told them he couldn't until the Crimson King was handled, that it was more important... and they yelled at him because apparently they thought it was a petty dispute and it didn't really matter whether he was in the Tower or not, what mattered was that the Tower itself was protected from the monster. Anyway, they ran off in a huff.

At about this point, instead of watching, I became Roland. And the guns were put on the ground as we had our first cola and palavered. And I thought about it, and realized that in the books the guns were described as huge and I'd never actually fired a gun before, so I proposed a modification, that we'd each use the other person's guns. The Crimson King was all for that, and I realized why... his gun was really piddly, the barrel so small it could only fire something like a bb, and weird firing mechanism where you pull a ring on a chain and light a match or something. And I thought, 'oh well, that's a dumb move on my part, but let's do this'. We took aim and fired, and his shot completely missed me, and mine hit him but apparently didn't do him much damage but got him really mad. And we were having another cola but somehow he decided 'screw this' and ran for the tower door to try and get inside while I wasn't ready, and shut me out, but I got in the tower with him and we were back in the 'each one unwilling to let the other go to the inner tower, and because of that being unable to go into the inner tower ourselves'.
