Got bored, found these memes, so did them.
Mary Sue's Self-Insertion Meme:
The rules:
1. Include these instructions when you post this meme in your journal.
2. Answer the questions for the fandoms you like, as though you were written into the movie/show/book. Try not to change either the fandoms or yourself any more than necessary to insert yourself (but you can assume you'd be a character who gets some screen time).
3. Skip answering for the fandoms you're unfamiliar with or don't like, but include them in the meme for others.
4. If your favorite fandom isn't on the list, add it to the end and create three questions in the same spirit as the rest of the meme (please try to avoid spoilery questions).
-Star Trek-
1. Where would you be stationed, and what would you position be?
Although I'd love to be an explorer, Deep Space 9 seems like the best place for me. Since my education was in computers and my job is grunt work, the best equivalent is being on Chief O'Brien's engineering team.
2. What species would you be?
Well, I'm human and can't really imagine being much else. I mean, I suppose I could be a half-Vulcan or something, although raised by humans and thus somewhat more emotional than Spock.
3. Who would you date (subspace and temporal anomaly relationships are a-ok, this is Trek)?
Hmmmm... well, I'm not really good at dating and being in Trek wouldn't help much, but if I did, Ezri Dax is probably the best bet.
-Firefly-
1. Why are you on Serenity?
I've answered questions like this before, so I've thought... the best bet is that I'd probably be a passenger that got in trouble while sticking my neck out for the Serenity crew, and so Mal let me come aboard.
2. What were you doing during the War for Independents?
Nothing (and shouldn't that be Independence?). I'd probably support the Browncoats in spirit, but I can't imagine myself fighting, no matter which side of the line I lived on. I'd just want to go on with my life.
3. Tell us how you get along with everyone else on the crew:
All of them? Lets see... I'll go one-by-one (because everyone knows two-by-two is bad).
Mal - Probably not directly interact with me much unless I had a purpose (which would probably be helping lugging cargo, or maybe finding stuff on the Cortex). Mutual respect.
Zoe - Probably similarly mutual respect. To be honest, I don't really know how I'd interact with her. Probably friendly but not close.
Wash - I'd like him and probably feel good about hanging out with him when the others are out doing a job and don't need anyone to fly.
Jayne - I wouldn't like him, and he wouldn't think much of me (don't get me wrong, I like him as a character but I'd hate him if I had to deal with him in person). Though we might occasionally make each other laugh at unexpected times.
Kaylee - I'd probably have a crush on her, putting me sort of in Simon's position (which would also make me a superfluous character story-arc-wise, but then I wouldn't be the one to 'get the girl', I don't care if this is called a 'Mary Sue' meme or not. ;))
Inara - Another 'friendly but not close'. I wouldn't look down on her job per se but wouldn't really know how to talk to her.
Book - I could get along with him, maybe enjoy a few philosophical debates since he's religious and I'm not, but I don't hold the same 'grudge' style non-religiousness like Mal. So I think we could have mutually respectful intellectual debates on the subject.
Simon - Ironically (since we'd both theoretically be after the same girl) he'd probably be my best friend, since we're pretty alike in a lot of ways and I think we could get along. I probably wouldn't go after Kaylee out of
respect for him.
River - Really wouldn't know how to relate to her being crazy in the brain-pan, since I tend to get (more) uncomfortable around people that I can't have an intelligible conversation with. I'd try to treat her nicely but mostly just avoid her.
-Lost-
1. What were you doing on the plane, or if not that, how did you get
on the Island?
Even though I don't take vacations, that's probably the most likely reason I'd be there. Or maybe I won a trip or something.
2. Create three pre-crash 'coincidental connections' with the other castaways or their relatives (Example: Locke did a home inspection for the girl Sayid is looking for and worked for the same person as Hurley), Sawyer met Jack's father in Australia and was served by Kate's mom in a diner) that neither of you would know about, but the eagle-eyed viewers might spot in a flashback:
Lessee.... I guess Kate might have passed through Toronto while on the run. Maybe she stopped for a burger at the Wendy's I worked for way back when (I was only mopping floors and stuff rather than serving anyone). Her dad might also have met my mom who works for the Canadian military.
I might have chatted with Hurley online somewhere probably after he became rich, and not realized it because we both used screen names. (Or maybe Locke, if he was into online text-based RPGs which isn't totally out of the question).
Finally, I had to have some surgery when I was younger. Tweaking my history slightly, I might well have had it in the hospital where Jack's dad worked. At the time Jack was probably a teenager but he might have visited.
3. Island love interest?
I don't think I'd have one. At best, one of the rest of the survivors we never learn anything about. None of the regular cast really draws me to them.
-Battlestar Galactica-
1. Where were you when the cylons attacked, that you were able to
survive?
I would have had to be on a civilian ship, probably a transport, that became part of the fleet.
2. Describe the relationship you'd have (romantic or platonic) with
one of the existing characters on the show:
I probably would have advocated in Boomer's favour, trying to make sure she was treated well once her existence became known to the fleet as a whole.
3. Are you a cylon?
Yes! I mean No! Drat. I'm not very good at keeping my cover, am I? Really, I'd probably not be a cylon, but, as mentioned above, I'd be considered a 'Cylon Sympathizer'... not because I support them or aid them, as a group, in any way, but because I consider them humans deserving of humane treatment, and believe that they don't necessarily all believe the same things.
-Doctor Who-
1. Which Doctor are you a companion to? Are there other companions?
Well, any of them would be fine, but I'd probably stand the best chance and have the most fun with Eccleston's version. Rose being there too would be nice. And if I'm rewriting time, Mickey too, as a full companion.
2. What does the Doctor or other companions think of you?
Just as someone along for the ride, probably, rather than as anyone close. I'd hope I'd prove myself not entirely useless at some point.
3. How'd you start travelling with the Doctor? How would you leave/die?
After learning about the TARDIS, I probably would have begged to come with the Doctor for the sheer adventure of it all and ability to see things nobody had ever seen before.
I probably wouldn't leave permanently, so I'd probably be left behind whenever the Doctor got sick of me, or killed by a Dalek. If I have to get killed, it needs to be by a Dalek. EXTERMINATE.
-X-Men-
1. You're a mutie. What's your power and codename, if any?
I'll go with my favorite. The ability to leave my body behind and travel about in an intangible 'ghost form' that I can make look however I want. Code-name 'Ghost'
2. What faction or team, of any era or incarnation, (Movie X-Men, X-Men: Evolution's Brotherhood, comic Generation X, MLF, etc) do you align yourself with, and why?
Well, right now I'm old enough to be on one of the X-teams, although whenever I think of myself in the comics I always de-age myself to a teenager and would go with Generation X or New Mutant or something. Why? Because I tend to like those characters the most, and the school setting is appealing.
Without a de-aging I'd probably be a member of Madrox's X-Factor team, and maybe helping out one of the X-teams in my spare time. Because I'd be interested in trying to undo the whole 'Decimation' thing, and my powers lend themselves to PI work.
3. Who's your love interest?
Gotta go with my old-time fictional-crush Kitty Pryde, so long as they keep her over 18 and don't spontaneously decide to de-age her again.
And a meme stolen from
80sfiend... sort of the opposite, picking who's most like you:
1. Which movie character is most like you?
Hmmm... I can't really think of any off-hand. So I'll go with Simon from Serenity... even though movie-Simon isn't really all that much like TV Simon in the ways that resemble me.
2. Which TV character is most like you?
Simon again, from Firefly, but this time more legitimately. Very shy, almost never swears, a little stiff and definitely not good at talking to people, but still a guy with a good heart.
3. Which literary character is most like you?
Well, there's always Walter Mitty. He and I have the whole 'better living through daydreams' thing going.
I'd say the main character, Davy Rice, from Jumper by Steven Gould. Aside from (luckily) the abusive homelife and (unfortunately, though I keep trying) the ability to teleport, he reminds me a lot of me. He's a reader, and he investigates his abilities once he discovers them in the same sort of methodical way I would.
4. Which song describes you?
"Nowhere Man" by the Beatles.
5. Which animal is most like you?
Probably a mouse. Or one of those underground living creatures that just pokes its head up from underground once in a while when it's necessary for survival and otherwise hides in its hole. You know, the Time Leopards.
I'll get to the yes/no meme others on my flist are doing later.
