This week I just got 1 book:

Teen Titans #41 (enjoyable for what it is but nothing special)

Full reviews as usual at my comic reviews site for anyone interested.

Also picked up "The Number of the Beast" by Robert A. Heinlein at the used bookstore cause, well, I've never read it.

Skipped lunch today. Work was bleh. At least it was a little early, but the downside was there was about twice as much stuff as usual. So, tired now.

Not-quite-dream-foo! So, for some reason, I woke up about half an hour early and, I don't know how my mind got on this train of thought, but it did and it couldn't get off of it and back to sleep.

For a while now I've been toying with the idea of, as some sort of Exiles style alternative universe the idea of: 'What If... the Gibborum operated on the East Coast', with the idea that in this what if, instead of being new characters, they might all be established Marvel characters especially villains. The Runaways would then be made up of their children (who might have to be new).

Some of them were easy enough.. for example, Kingpin and his wife might well be the Thieves, or, just as likely, one of the other crime families.

Scientists should likewise have been fairly easy - plenty of mad scientists in NY.

Colonists could be skrulls, or perhaps even the Super Skrull.

Travellers I was thinking Kang, but he didn't really fit, and I couldn't really think of any other good time traveller badguys.

Sorcerors should have been fairly easy... Baron Mordo would be an obvious choice, just tie him together with a wife (maybe another established villain). Or, ooh, maybe even get Belasco and Illyana together.

Outcasts should still have been mutants, and, in what I thought was one of the neatest strokes, would be Mystique and Destiny. They'd have an adopted daughter, Rogue, who would be a member of the team. (Her powers might be triggered by this discovery that the people she's closest to in the world are EEEEEVIL). As an option, Nightcrawler could also sub in for Rogue (though he'd have to have some kind of image inducer or spell on him so he can have a normal life). Sort of Evolution-age for either of them though.

Anyway, that's old news (to me, though you fearless readers might not have heard it), but I never really got anywhere with the idea other than tinkering with it occasionally.

What I thought of this morning, suddenly, while trying to get back to sleep, that Power Pack would be the children of the East Coast Pride.

In this alternate universe, Professor Power and his wife (who, instead of becoming an artist became a scientist too) joined the Pride before they had kids, as the Scientists.

Of course, the problem there is that the idea was for each Pride pair to have one kid. So you probably couldn't have _all_ the Power Pack kids without weird plot gymnastics, but you could have one.

Anyway, after they see the murder and investigate their parents, the EC runaways break into Professor Power's secret lab, where they encounter a frozen Kymellian. They revive it and it dies, passing on its powers to the Power Child with the words, 'Save Your World'. Basically, in this universe Whitemane came to Earth to try and save it but ended up getting caught by Professor Power and studied, and the Snarks were also driven off by them in combination with the Aliens of the Pride. The scientists also captured and enslaved Whitemane's smartship Friday, who now serves as their 'Leapfrog' type craft.

Then of course, since my mind was on this What If, I went back to Aliens, and figured, hey, why not just put Hulkling on the team and say that in this alternate universe, his mother fled to Earth along with a suitor who thought the child was his. (Yeah, I know his mother was a famous skrull princess, but they can flee too!)

As for Time Travellers, well, you could always have Gert's parents just decide to be on the other coast, although that's a pathway you don't necessarily want to go down.

Anyway, these are just random, rambling thoughts, and it's not like I ever really plan to do anything with it (save if Marvel decided to assign me to write Exiles or something).

Random business idea: Gag gift t-shirts for practical jokes operating on the principle of a design that it _partly_ water soluble, in certain sections. So, after the first wash, the message changes. For example (the only one I've thought of so far, but there are probably many), a t-shirt saying 'Born Star' might change to read 'Porn Star' after washing it once, and maybe the image of the star might have a little dirty picture in the center.

Did the full walk today, no bus ride home for me. I'm slowly trying to cut out bus rides entirely. Save money and get a little exercise while I'm at it. Plus, if I ever do decide to do my Long Walk, well, it's training for it!

During the walk thought about various things, some Runaways and Heroes speculation, and of course writing ideas. I think I might have found the way to approach that idea I had a few weeks ago, with AIs. Still needs more development though. Oh, and onto PerExWriMo... only one day left, and I've met my goal completely so far. I'm looking forward to the end. More on that tomorrow or Friday though with my full recap.

I'm going to go collapse now, or maybe have some dinner to avoid that.
