New Comic Day + Work From Hell
Jun. 27th, 2007 05:37 pmThis week I got three books.
Ultimate X-Men #83 (okay, a couple good moments, but nothing spectacular)
WWH: X-Men #1 (pleasant enough that I'll probably pick up the next issue)
X-Factor #20 (My pick of the week, with some surprising developments, even if I'm a little glad the arc is over)
Full reviews up as usual at my comic reviews site for anyone interested.
So yeah, work day from hell. First, today I was supposed to start working mornings on Mondays. Yesterday I was told first to be there for 6:30am, and then a little, via phone message, to be there at 1. I wasn't informed about whether 1 was supposed to be a permanent time or a one time thing. So, naturally, I obsessed about it and didn't sleep well, not only wondering what the regular status was going to be and if I could make it work with new comic day, but also whether they'd call me at 6:30 in the
morning to ask where I was. But they didn't, and I left to get comics, on the long walk.
Got there before 1, but they didn't show up for an hour or so beyond that. Not that
big a deal. Found out that this _was_ a one time thing. Except the one time thing
happened on one of the hottest and most humid days of the year. Where I'm working outside, lifting heavy things. On a day where, it really would have been nice to have had work in the morning rather than the afternoon at the height of heat. And, what's more, since this wasn't the regular delivery people, they didn't have a liftgate, so I had to lift everything right off the truck. This all leads to a tired newnumber6, drenched in sweat. Btw, sweat in your eyes is not pleasant, for those who have not experienced or, like me, have forgotten. So, bah. But I made it through it, as I always do.
Had a peanut butter sandwich before I left, which I guess counts as lunch. Hungry now.
