New Comic Day + Other Foo
Mar. 31st, 2010 05:56 pmThis week I got just one book:
New Mutants #11 (kind of a pointless fill in... decent, but I'd hoped it would be better).
It'll be the last comic I buy in the near future, because after this, New Mutants is being sequestered for the Second Coming crossover, and I'm not buying every 5th issue of a major storyline, nor am I picking up all the rest for completeness' sake. The only remaining option is to drop it during the Second Coming crossover. I've said it before, but I'll say it again. If Marvel isn't actually bringing back mutants, I just don't give a damn. And if this happens to be the storyline that DOES bring them back? Good for them. Maybe I'll pick it up after it's done. But you're not getting my money until you actually bring them back first.
Also, at a used bookstore I picked up Saturn's Children, by Charles Stross, and at a used gaming store I picked up Dead Rising. No, I haven't got my X-Box 360 yet, but it was only $10, and it's been hard to find in the mainstream stores, so I bought it in advance... that way when I do have my X-box I can be fighting zombies the first day I set it up. :) Looked like a pretty good used store too, can probably pick up a couple other older games for a pretty decent price. New games are still highly expensive, even used, but oh well. I think I may be getting the 360 itself within a matter of weeks.
Yesterday, (due to scheduling problems it was the only day that worked) we had our big Easter meal. It was pretty nice. Went to my grandmother's place, and we had Mashed potatoes, Rice, Salad, cooked vegetables, Roast Beef, Lamb, Gravy, Greek Potato Chips (feta, olive, and oregano), and, for desert, cheesecake. It was all really good, and nice to see family again of course.
Today, I got my yearly haircut. My head feels so much lighter. But I needed to shed my long locks in anticipation of summer. Unfortunately I had to wait around an hour and a half after work for the place I go to to be open, but oh well.
In other news, I apparently won a $60 photo scanner. It'll be delivered in 4-6 weeks.

Date: 2010-04-02 09:02 am (UTC)Dead Rising is a lot of fun. Enough so that when I got it, we didn't have an HD tv and I couldn't read the subtitles which are quite important, so I used a FAQ transcript and didn't really mind.

Date: 2010-04-02 02:58 pm (UTC)Looking up the problem you mentioned, it sounds like I'll be having the same problem with the text, since I have a normal TV. Kind of a stupid mistake to make (and I classify it as a mistake whether they do or not), but oh well, I guess I can use the FAQs like you did.
