newnumber6At least, mostly non-spoilery. I'll cut the semi-spoilery stuff (and even then, I'll mostly be just alluding, rather than saying).
Credits: I like the look of them better.
Opening Music: A bit of a step down. I dunno, it just didn't start quite right.
Plot: Not bad, not great. Would have liked a bit more but the episode had a lot to do.
The Doctor:
I like him, so far. Still seems to me to be channelling Tennant a little too much... would have liked them to go in a slightly different direction, and I saw some hints of that at times but mostly I thought that all the lines and acts not specifically referring to his regeneration could have been delivered by Ten. He did get a couple really nice moments.
The Companion:
Too early to call, but a bit of a disappointment based just on this episode. Not her actor, but... I don't know, just too samey-samey.
(Vague semi-spoilery stuff ahoy, and more might be in comments if there come any) Right now I'm not getting any sense that she's much different from any other contemporary companion. They pulled a surprise on us, one I genuinely wasn't expecting (and another surprise I was expecting for weeks), and it might have pleased me if it didn't just seem to make her more like the average companions I'm so bored of.
But mostly I just didn't get the sense that we got to know her, and what we do know doesn't yet impress me.
Overall, though, a mild thumbs up, and I like what I see in the preview.
