It's April Fools, and I know I usually do something to celebrate it, create a fake news story or something, like last year's "Doctor Who Spinoffs" one, or Watchmen sequel the year before, but this time, I just couldn't think of any I liked. Sorry. I'm a big fan of April Fools (I consider it a nice complement to Halloween - on Halloween, you present an alternate version of yourself. On April Fools, you present an alternate version of the rest of the world... that's why I prefer gags where you sort of create a present day "what if?" where you can, hopefully, appreciate them even if you're not actually fooled), but inspiration didn't strike me this time around.
So, instead, I'll just play a game. If you want to do it on your own and make it a meme, you're welcome to.
Three Truths, Three Lies
I'll give six statements about myself. Half of them are true (to the best of my knowledge), but things that I don't think I've talked about before for whatever reason. The other half are lies.
Your task is to determine which is which. However, I'll only fess up if somebody gets ALL of them correct. No partial credit.
1. As a child, I spent 3 week at a summer day camp themed around paleontology, where we got to dig up (fake) dino bones and learn dinosaur facts.
2. I can list off over a hundred countries in roughly 2 minutes without looking anything up.
3. I tried to stay awake a full 36 hours on a week long school trip because I heard it makes you high and hallucinate.
4. Given only the stardate stated in an episode of Star Trek (TNG or DS9 only), I can probably (80%) tell you the episode name.
5. I once played the Skipper (from Gilligan's Island) on stage in front of a large number of people.
6. I at one point owned and read every single Dragonlance novel, no matter how tangentially connected to the core plot and characters, up until the Fifth Age stuff started coming out. I still have most of them.
Fun fact: I was originally going to include something as a "lie" (but a "lie near to the truth") but then once I looked into it, realized that it may actually have been true all along, I just couldn't say for sure, so I dropped it. Okay, the fact wasn't that fun. Consider that your April Fools. But I'll also reveal that one if anybody gets the rest.
