newnumber6: Ghostly being (Default)

Okay, so weird confession time...

I'm in my mid twenties.

I have never shaved with a non-electric shaver in my life.
Until last week, anyway.

It feels odd, but I never had to. I always had a decent electric one. (In fact, I've had _the same_ electric one for the last ten years or so, since I needed to shave).

But, well, the shaver broke.. it's still barely functional, but it just takes too damn long to shave. So, in desparation, I tried shaving the old fashioned way.

It takes some getting used to, and I still haven't gotten the hang of it in all places (particularly around the chin), but it's interesting. I can do it anyway (though I will use my electric for touchups). It's not the best shave in the world, but it's pretty good, and is _a lot_ better on the neck than the electric. I do need to get a better razor (I've been using a 'travel razor' in a travel-accesories pack my mom sent us a while back, so it's fairly bare bones), but I can probably keep doing it.

The one thing that's of major difference, of course, is the
cuts. Oh, they're not serious ones, shallow ones really. Barely even bleed.

Of course, they sting like a $!$@! when I put a bit of aftershave on afterwards.

The thing is, I've discovered I like the pain. I don't know, it just... feels like something. By necessity, I've never been too much a person of sensation. There aren't a lot of sensations I really have access to, but somehow the sting in the cuts makes me feel good that there still is feeling in me. It's odd. That's not to say I'm going to go around cutting myself deliberately anyway, but where before I might have got an electric shaver as soon as possible, I may just stick with this way for a while.
