"Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much."

Comics: Comics are the only medium willing to tackle the big issues: Heroism, sacrifice, death, immortality, robots, clones, the destruction of the Earth, and more! Well, no, really. Really, comics are a medium like any other, they have drawbacks and benefits, but you can tell stories just as complex as any medium. However, comics tend to have people with super-powers in them, and other mediums don't _as often_, and that's just something that's always fascinated me, so I like a regular dose of it. Plus I really like some of the characters.

Dreams: I've always liked my dreams. Even the nightmares, I just think they're cool. Then of course, there's the lucid dreams, where I can run around and do things like fly, things I could never possibly do in reality.
Moreover, the idea that all of this junk is generated inside your own skull is really appealing. The knowledge that if you could only harness this ability, you could have basically a perfect 'holodeck', it both attracts and frustrates me.

Mushing: MUSHing, for those who don't know, is a form of online roleplaying. I like it for one because of the real-time aspect of it, that doesn't come up in tabletop or message board RPs, and of course for the reasons I like normal RPing... it allows me to use creativity, and pretend to be someone else. Even if the someone elses tend to be reflections of various aspects of me, I realize I'm not all that good at playing people who are really different from me. In short, though, I like MUSHing because it's a lot of fun.

racmx: This is an acronym for a Usenet group talking about comics,
specifically X-Men ones. I just like the discussions on the group,
they can be fun sometimes.

Runaways: This is one particular comic, and it's one of my favorites. For those who don't know, it's about a group of adolescents with parents who meet every year for 'charitable causes'. One year, they decide to spy on them through a secret passage one of them discovered... and witness their parents murdering a girl. They soon learn that their parents are an evil supervillain group, and so they have to run away and find a way to take them down. Why do I love it? Great writing, great characters. Even many of the 'evil' characters are at least a little relatable and sympathetic. There are great moments in dialogue. I also like the fact that it's one of the few 'superhero' comics without costumes, and that have more realistic body types (with Gert being slightly overweight and it not ever really being an issue, and the other female character being thin but also not terribly buxom). It's one of the few books I'd nonetheless recommend even to people who don't read superhero comics, if I was the sort to actually go out and recommend things to people I know.

Speculative fiction: This is my preferred term, covering Science Fiction, Fantasy, and some types of Horror. Basically anything that's not the boring mundane world we live in. There's the cool ideas, and the idea of letting myself into a story and imagining what I'd do, or what it'd be like to live in a similar situation. Noticing a theme here, btw, with these interests? Most of these revolve around escaping from reality. Reality bores me, and is thoroughly unsatisfying. ;)

XET: Well, this is my particular MUSH, of course. Why do I like it? I love the theme, and the characters (both mine and those of others)have become very dear to me. And hey, many of the people behind the characters have become friends, people I just enjoy talking to. More specifically about the game though, I love that it's got a bunch of more or less coherent storylines, some with foreshadowings of years in advance. I love that, even today, it still gets me excited about plots and potential plots... just wish it could be a bit more active.
