Year In Review Meme Survey
Jan. 2nd, 2006 01:54 pmOr Survey Meme. Anyway, stolen from
madrigalblue... 40 questions.
1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Played an April Fools joke that wound up coming true because of
the joke.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I kept my one from more than 10 years ago that I wouldn't make any
more.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Don't think so.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Luckily, no.
5. What countries did you visit?
None, except in my mind.
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
A love life?
7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Can't think of one. I mean, there are certain things that happened
that I would remember what day it happened on, but, years down the
line, I probably wouldn't remember the year, because my mind doesn't
work like that.
See, I might say something like June whateveritwas that I saw the
preview screening of Serenity.. except I can't even remember the
date of that, even though I'll remember the event itself. My
brain doesn't work that way.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Sadly enough, probably my
alternaljournal. Keeping it
going on a regular basis for over a year now is probably my record
for any piece of writing that was not collaborative (in other words,
like MUSHing or RPing or something).
9. What was your biggest failure?
Managing to improve my life in any significant way.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Minor illness and injury, but nothing worth noting except the way
my eye wants to explode today.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Books. Not any in specific, just in general.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I'm sure there were lots, but I can't say I noticed anyone in
particular.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Again, can't think of any. Certain public figures, but I'm used
to being appalled and depressed by all of them.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, food, comics, books.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I don't tend to get really, really, really excited about anything.
Some comic events got my mildly excited, as did Serenity.
16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
I don't listen to music, so I don't think any song will remind me of
2005.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
-- About the same, maybe a bit sadder just from the drone of years
chipping away.
ii. thinner or fatter?
-- About the same. Maybe a tiny bit fatter since I haven't
exercised as much this year as I had last year. But not noticably
so.
iii. richer or poorer?
-- Poorer, but moving up I think due to a little extra regular cash from the
extra work. Last year I was richer, but slowly moving down because
my expenses very slightly exceeded my income - I was working off some
savings and the slide was very gradual.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Conversation, Writing
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Moping
20. How will you be spending New Year's?
I don't celebrate New Years. I think I was online and an old episode
of 24 was on TV, I didn't even notice it was past midnight until
a few minutes after. A few hours before New Years I watched Revenge
of the Sith on DVD with my brother and his girlfriend.
21. Who did you spend New Years Eve with?
My brother and his girlfriend.
22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
No.
23. How many one-night stands?
0
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Lost, maybe.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope, I'm a lover not a hater.
26. What was the best book you read?
I can't choose just one.
27. What was your greatest musical (re)discovery?
I didn't discover any music.
28. What did you want and get?
Serenity DVD? Some good books?
29. What did you want and not get?
Various general improvements to my life whined about on my LJ
ad nauseum.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Serenity.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I became 27, and... I can't remember what I did. (No, I didn't
get drunk. It just couldn't have been that interesting).
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Lasers.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
Same as 2004 - whatever I have that I'm comfortable wearing, jeans and
a t-shirt mostly, hopefully without visible logos as much as possible.
34. What kept you sane?
Sane?
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Don't think I fancied any. If any celebrities or public figures
fancied me, please let me know, though.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
There were a bunch of minor ones but nothing stands out as 'the most'.
General civil liberties concerns from Bush in the international front,
and locally probably Gay Marriage finally being legal in Canada (I
think that happened in 2005. If not, then the idiot conservative
leader wanting to reopen the question certainly did).
37. Who did you miss?
Various people from high school, some MUSH friends who didn't reappear
or did so less than I'd hoped.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I don't know that I met any 'new' people.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:
No matter how much you can intellectually know a life lesson,
sometimes it just won't translate into your everyday life.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"He's a real nowhere man, sitting in his nowhere land, making all
his nowhere plans for nobody..."
